As I mentioned a long time ago I finally got my first job, and would be starting it in the upcoming semester. Well that time is finally here and I will be leaving next week to move in a whole 12 days or so early before the semester actually begins. While I am as excited as can be, not because the job is going to be fun or anything, in fact sitting in one place for 4 or 5 hours a night then going straight to some horrible math or biology class is the exact opposite of what I personally call fun... Still, I am tired of being stuck in the past when it comes to technology and the steady flow of cash coming in will be the best thing to happen in my life since Mario 64 turned me into some sort of nonstop gaming fiend.
My current plan is to have a HDTV and a 360 + most likely LO and COD4 by the end of the first semester (which is all completely in the realm of possibility as I shall touch on soon) and then spend the next semester picking up a PSP and eventually a PS3 mostly for the addition of the Blu-ray player at this point, since seeing a movie in HD finally the other day my mind was officially blown. I also got to play a bit of Metal Gear Solid 4. I guess I should point out my time with a MG game in the past is slim to none, so even on the eaiest difficulty I failed horribly at sneaking around but man I could not stop playing. Not because I found the gameplay fun to say (well I did, but I sucked horribly and was getting frustrated at being spotted so much) but the game was just so pretty to look at and listen to. It is probably the best looking game I have ever seen in person...
But anyway, back to stuff about my upcoming job. I am pretty angry at when I am being trained. Training starts around 7:00 at night the day I arrive, which is a horrible time in my opinion. I just spent the past few days trying to adjust my sleep schedule as to where I can go to sleep after classes, and then be awake in time for work. The adjustment was going perfectly until yesterday when I got this email about when training was to begin... So now I have about 2 days to fix this mess, then go down there for training, do the training, then fix that sleep mess for when we open the next day. I should also point out in my entire 19 years of life I have only relied on an alarm clock once, this was to be awake for a final at 8:00 in the morning. Because apparently 8:00 is a perfect time to have a final for my class I signed up for at 10:20 for the sole purpose of not having to wake up early in the morning... yeah.
The alarm clock was surprisingly a good choice. I never had good luck with them in the past, which is partly why I never used them. I tend to sleep through them, or wake up before them, weird things like that. Well I discovered last semester there is something that I can not sleep through, ever... Featuring the most annoying sound ever... The Nintendo DS... Yep. I did not have an alarm on me at the time when I needed one, so I figured it was time for the DS to do something other than playing some awesome games. The sound I awoke to was the really worst. No idea if any of you have bothered to hear the DS alarm sound, but save your ears some piece and do not. It is hard to describe, but I imagine it is the sound a foul demon possessed by a NES game would make. It really is the most annoying sound ever. I just hope that sound can help me once again when preparing for this job.
That aside now, how about some money talk? I still have no idea how much money I am going to be making at my job, but even at minimum wage if I do 20 hours a week I will have my TV within a few months. I am getting a nice jump start too. I have to do this very annoying online training through power points and online quizes, but I am apparently getting paid to do it, so whatever. Along with this the first week I am there I am allowed to work a 40 hour week (it will be before school begins, once school does begin however I am not allowed to go over 20) which if I can do this my first check will be a nice one. I still am curious about how much I will be making though, the teacher of mine that told me about the job originally suggested the night shift because they according to him make more than the day shift. So assuming (of course) that the day shift makes minimum wage, which in my crappy state is $6.55 an hour, I should be making a bit more than that I would guess. Either way I do not care - IT IS MONEY, WHICH I DON'T HAVE CURRENTLY!
Before I go I suppose I should say one last thing... I guess all that spending an no saving sounds kind of irresponsible haha.. Well I figure it this way, I am not paying an loans or anything until 6 months after I graduate, and I probably have another 4 years here at a minimum - so if I play the catch up game now and assuming I continue to work at this place I will have plenty of spare money to save over the next few years. Sure I will spend a little here and a little there, but I mean I do not own a car so I can't go places (and I don't plan to get one anytime soon), I don't have any money sucking friends, and in general I am a very good saver (you try saving for a gamecube on a 5 dollar a week allowance as an energetic kid and see how it works out for you lol!) so I figure I will have plenty of cash saved up to get me started in this real world business after I do graduate...

well good luck at the new job and hopefully you get more than minimum wage. I like you plan to buy all the stuff you want without depending on other people...very independent of you. Good luck with your plan.
