So... do you need a new copy of Crackdown to play the Halo Beta?

My friend says second hand ones won't work as it registers your gamer tag...?

any ideas?

Any copy of Crackdown will do. The option to download Halo 3 beta is right there in the user interface, I don't think it registers gamertags or whatever.

No, it does not register your gamertag. You just need specially marked Crackdown disc that has the option to download the beta, since you will need the disc to launch the beta once you DLed it.

Now, you can get the beta with any disc, i think.
