I personally dont understand what people expected from Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull. I thought it was a very good movie. It had everything the old Indy movies had... adventure, laughs, melodrama. It felt a bit rushed but overall it got its point across and dealt with a very different plot toward the end. Sometimes you cant recapture the old feeling when you are doing a fourth movie almost 20 yrs after the last one.
