So this is the story of one of my best friends. I won't give out his name (I will call him Ash) but I will say is that his on passions is Pokemon.
He's 21, and I personally think he's outgrown Pokemon but he insists that it's a kickass game. Since the day I met him he's played it nonstop. He's play and replayed every single title, including the pokemon pinball games. He's collected basically everysingle pokemon card out there. Even buying the ones he was missing on ebay. Needless to say, he's a hardcore fan and is pretty good at the game. A couple of months ago another friend of mine called me up saying that there was going to be a National Pokemon Tournament coming up. http://www.pokemonvgc.com/en/updates/03.html
So of course Ash couldn't wait and started to train. He played diligently for several weeks, making sure that his pokemon had the perfect stats and stayed at level 50. He was also obligated to stick to their rules which consisted of double matches only and they also banned several pokemon. We realized that it was going to be held about 2 hours away, so we started to get ready for the drive. A week before the tournament we decided to leave my house at 2am so that we can get their at about 4 or 5, to make sure he had a spot in the tournament. You see, another rule of theirs is that only 150 people were allowed to play. Not only that but there was no first come first serve system, there was going to be a raffle for the spots. Ash wanted to make sure we were early just in case they changed that rule last minute. They didn't.
After driving 2 hour with little sleep, waiting in line for 7 1/2 hours to register and another 2 to see who would play, Ash was not picked. All I have to say is, seeing his face in utter disappointment almost brought me to tears. So I came up with an Idea. See, this friday is they are holding another preliminary in TN. Sure it's 13 hours away, but he has another chance! So I'm writing this to keep people posted on how's he's doing throughout the tournament. (If he gets in, that is)
I actual think he has a chance at winning the first place title.. but if he doesn't well I'm going to make sure he has a blast getting there.

Well pokemon is a kickass game if I do say so myself. >___>
Still, that was mighty kind of you to do that. Hopefully your friend gets selected this time around.
