So I am reading the Zombie Survival Guide by Max Brooks. You know what? Some of this stuff (I know it is ludacris...or is it?) makes a lot of sense. Kinda likeThe Patriotand his ideals about the 2nd American Revolution. A lot of what Brooks is saying makes a lot of sense...homicides by a shot to the head...brutal killings where no weapons were used...people biting people in an "angry mob". Yeah...zombies. All zombies. Good thing I live on a military post cause Max Brooks says that it's the safest place to be. That or an apartment building. Well jolly me, I live in an apartment building ON a military base. Freaking ZOMBIE PROOF!!! >=-D
Call of Duty moves from the Round by Round Multiplayer to a Real-Time scenario with a constant battlefield where the players are in a free-roam environment moving from battlefield to battlefield as they please. When one faction takes control of a certain area it begins to construct a fortified post. Starting with a small outpost consisting of little more than an MG Bunker and minor fortifications. Over a period of a few in-game days the fortifications would be upgraded to some sort of Maximum level with a high defensive capability. MG Mounts, towers and such.
These posts can be captured or destroyed...which ever is easier for the opposing team. Air and artillery strikes can be summoned same as in the current CoD games by means of available assets earned by controlling certain areas of the conflict zone. Certain posts have certain assests available with them. For example: Controlling an Artillery post will give a squad leader the ability to call in an artillery strike at his will. There will be a recharge time for each assest respective to how powerful the asset is. For example: a UAV will have a much shorter recharge time than an Artillery, MLRS or ATACMS strike. Same goes for Gunship support and fixed wing strikes.
Players in matchmade teams or parties will have the ability to select their load-out same as the current CoD games plus the ability to elect a "Squad Leader". You probably want someone who knows how to call in support assets as the leader. Players will have the option to either roam the battlefield in search of enemy troops on foot and in land based vehicles of various types or they can be air lifted directly to a location of their choosing. Players on the ground may want to watch for transport choppers overhead. Those choppers are carrying either friendly or enemy troops (make sure you can tell the difference between each factions helicopters) to a conflict zone....you probably want to follow them. The size of the chopper will vary based upon how many players are being transported. Also you can use your vehicles to kill the passengers for points. Players killed while in a helocopter will respawn with their team just before the drop zone is reached.
When being airlifted you have a few things to keep in mind. 1: You can still attack / be killed while in transit. Don't worry, you will respawn good as new. The helicopters will have defenses respective to the size of the helocopter. Smaller ones will have fewer defenses but will move faster than larger, more heavily armed helocopters. 2: The team leader may choose how to exit the helicopter. These options are:
a: a high level parachute b: a low level fast-rope
c: a ground level dismount
Leader Assets:
So far I have brainstormed the following assets available for a squad leader to call on at any time during the game:
1: UAV - reveals nearby enemies on your teams HUD
2: A supply drop - ammunition is airlifted to a position of your choice via smoke signal
3: A vehicle drop - 3 vehicles of your choice are airlifted to a position of your choice via smoke signal
4: Artillery Strike - Using your map to select the location of a barage of mixed artillery shell munitions
5: MLRS Strike - More powerful and larger area than the Artillery strike. Distant MLRS launchers saturate an area of your choice using your map.
6: Cobra Gunship - a team of cobra gunships provides close air support for a two minute time period.
7: AC130 Gunship - The leader takes control of the guns of an AC130 Gunship for a two minute time period.
8: Fixed Wing Strike - 3 jet bombers carpet bomb an area of your choice using your map.
9: Precision Strike - An ATACMS missle strikes the target of your choice.
10: MOAB - The Mother of All Bombs is dropped on a target area of your choice.
Still brainstorming. Am open to ideas.
Simple Solution: Play the Sinlge Player campaign and simply be careful. Again...sounds simple enough. However after 7 or 8 times playing through the No Mercy (my second favorite) campaign with 3 computer controlled players I still find myself happlessly anihilating a teammate at the last second on the roof. There will be some Hunter that pins someone and just when I turn and shoot said hunter I end up popping a cap right in the ass of the teammate running to bash the hunter off of its victim. Why the hell don't they just shoot? Everyone's gotta be a freakin hero.
Epic Fail
