GAMES: GameSpot GameFAQs MOVIES: Metacritic Movietome Comic-Con

The zombie genre has recently become one of my favorites. I didn't know what to expect when I first bought The House of the Dead: Overkill, other than it's a rail gun shooter.

But I'm very impressed, the visuals look great, and the controls work very well. This has also got to be the funniest game I have ever played. It reminds me of the movie Grindhouse, and one of the main characters Detective Washington sounds just like Samuel L. Jackson.

The only things I dislike is that the story mode is really short, and the weapon purchasing and upgrading system sucks. But beside that, it's a really fun game.

I'm thinking about getting the Resident Evil games next. I'm just going to start off with the first Resident Evil that's available on GameCube, and possibly Resident Evil 0 some time later.

UPDATE: I'm thinking of returning this. Don't get me wrong, this is a fun game. But it's just after you beat it, then that's it. The replay value is really low, plus it's way too easy. I recommend renting this first before buying it.

Brains?

Ah, that series brings back memories. That and Time Crisis... *wipes tear from eyes* Have fun blowing up zombie brains. I definitely agree; the GC RE games are great (especially RE4). Also, you could buy the Umbrella Chronicles (and soon to be released) Darkside Chronicles for the Wii, seeing as they're kinda like The House of the Dead games.

I pretty much agree with all your impressions. The game was lots of fun and it was different in a way. It's just way too short and easy.
