I keep reading all these fanboy posts about whose year it's going to be (PS3, Wii, 360). So since I own all three consoles I thought I'd type my impressions of how the first half of 2008 has gone for them, and what I'm looking forward to in the second half of 2008. Before I start I don't think of myself as a fanboy, but the Xbox 360 is my first and main console this gen, so if it's multi-platform I play it on the 360.

Xbox 360
I spend the majority of time on my 360 so the first half of the year was great thanks to multiplatform games like RSV2 and GTA4, not to mention the big titles like Mass Effect, Halo 3, and Bioshock that came out late last year. I'm looking forward to Ninja Gaiden 2 and GRID which will be coming out in the next few weeks, and the big Microsoft exclusives like Fable 2, Gears of War 2, Too Human, and Left 4 Dead. After seeing the Banjo Kazoie Nuts and Bolts previews I'm no longer interested in it, which is too bad since I use to be a big Banjo fan. I also got a gameaccess.com account so I've been renting a lot of games as you can see from the gamerscore. Overall the Xbox 360 had a good first half of the year thanks to strong third party support, and I'm really looking forward to the big titles like Gears of War 2 later this year.

Wii
The Wii started the year off big with the release of Super Smash Brothers Brawl. This game is insanely fun and a perfect party game with friends. I wasn't able to put it down for the longest time, and every time I have friends over we have to play a few rounds. I really liked all the controller options they gave you and the online is pretty good. Mario Kart Wii came shortly after and is also a very fun game. The controls can be hard to get the hang of, but its worth getting and great to play with friends. But as good as the Wii's start to the year was, I feel I'm going to be disappointed by the time the years over. I can't see one game I want to buy for the Wii in the second half of 2008. And as amazing as the Wii's first party titles are, I don't own one 3rd party Wii game, and it doesn't look like 2008 will change this.

PS3
For me the PS3 had a very slow start to the year. I got my PS3 at the start of the year and have been playing all the AA titles I missed in 2007. I rented and beat Uncharted, R&C, Heavenly Sword, Resistance, and Moterstorm which came with it, but found none of those exclusives worth buying. I don't think I'll be picking up the $40 Demo of GT5 and watching the Haze review I won't be buying my first PS3 game till MGS4. The PS3's had a great year so far thanks to the multiplatform games (RSV2, GTA4, etc.), but since my 360 my primary console I end up playing all those games on my 360, and didn't really touch my PS3. I'm glad I own a PS3 for the big titles that will come out this year and next, but I'm just glad I didn't get one at launch. The PS3 still doesn't have a AAAE and I mostly use it for blue-ray, I hope this will change this year with titles like MGS4, Resistance 2, Socom 4, and Little Big Planet. The PS3 has a lot of potential and I hope it really shows it this year.
Well that's what I've thought of the big three this year so let me know what you guys think.

As for the Wii your right, it does have a very weak holiday line up and next to no 3rd part games to speak of. The only thing that I am excited for that is 3rd party is sega's Mad World. I have only seen one trailer but it looks really goary and really cool!
As for the PS3 your right it is off to a slow year and Haze really doesn't help paint a brighter picture. MGS4 is sure to help the console out as will hopefully titles like LBP, RFM2 and Socom
But PS3 will crush em all soon...soon
