I just saw this anime on YouTube. It's only one episode long (25 minutes), but the animation, art, and the emotional storyline is just breathtaking. The anime is about love, seperation, isolation, and desperation, all within the setting of farthest reaches of space.

The thing that facinates me the most about this anime is that it was entirely done by one person with the exception of the music which was done by the creator's friend. The man who made this anime single handandly is Makato Shinkai.

The anime was highly praised in Japan and even made it to the US on DVD. After that Shinkai developed his first feature animated film (with a team and a budget) known as The Place Promised in Our Early Days. I have yet to see this animated movie and I will soon enough for I have heard great things about it. So from the looks of it, Makato Shinkai could become the next Hayau Miyazaki.

But I must say, that Shinkai has strongly influenced me. The fact that he could develope such a high quality anime by himself really shows how far a single person can go with given talent and hard work. This has motivated me to do my best and work hard in developing the game I have been working on known as The Farthest Land.

Lastly, it seems there is a manga (picture above) that fallows the anime and even goes beyond it. I will be reading that soon. Speaking of which, the next episode of the Blue Dragon Manga must have been translated by now.....[runs off to go and read]

Thanks for giving me two Anime's to watch tomorrow after I finish any work we need to do on the Union. The art looks great, and romance in an Anime always gets me hooked to it.

I saw Voices of a Distant star at the Anime All-nighter I went to back in April. It was very good and outstanding that it was all created by one man (an a bit of help from his wife). He started off by working on it by staying at the workplace and making the short film.

The Place Promised in Our Early Days was also shown at the all-nighter and is extremely beautiful (as asthetic as a Miyazaki film) but it did have some points in the film which were rather boring.

Yes I need to make time to watch all these anime. Sounds interesting and you seem to think very highly of it. I cant wait to watch it myself (when I get the chance, currently need to finish some other Giant Robot anime). As to Blue Dragon, some slow down with translation this week a lot of people are busy with work and school so the scanlation will probably slip into next week. Apologies all around!

YES Arath, you really need to see this anime. I think you will really enjoy it. Especially The Place Promised in our Early Days. I just finished watching that movie and it is freakin brilliant. Probably, the most emotional movie I have ever seen. It's really in-depth that really digs into you as you watch the film. Like JAG said, there a few boring scenes, and I think this is because the anime tends to be slow (which suits it perfectly btw). But after 30 minutes of it, it really draws you into the emotional intensity of a struggling and distant love story.

The film is very beautiful and extremely well directed. I think this the best directed film I ever saw. Makato Shinkai is definetly one of my new faverite directors. I can't wait to see what he has in stored for us next.

I haven't seen this either, I tend to stay away from the anime movies for some reason, don't ask me why. I'm not watching anything at the moment so this should be perfect. Thanks Oblivion!

Yeah, this is the type of motivation we need more of. I've been doing everything all by myself on my personal 'game project'.
