This film is extremely intelligent and thought provoking.It challenges family values and gives insight into the personalitites of criminals.The violence is strong but used sparingly,which adds to the impact.Several actors give brilliant performances.Marlon Brando exudes class as Don Vito Corleone.James Caan plays the agressive Sonny with perfectly honed menace.Al Pacino is excellent as Micheal,creating a sense of uncertainty about his future.Several other cast members -Robert Duvall,Diane Keaton -give good performances as well.
The story is an epic one.It essentially chronincles the end of the old generation of criminals and ushers in the age of Micheal Corleone.The way Micheal's personality chnages over the course of the film is one of the finest aspects of the film.The Godfather is superior to it's sequelas and is the best movie ever made.
