Last night at midnight, I saw the premiere of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoneix, and I must say that it was better than I expected it to be.. I thought they were going to leave a lot more out than what they did...
Mind you, it wasn't the best in the world, because they did leave out some EXTREMELY important details about the phrophecy from the book (Ahem, NEVILLE!!!!). The part thatreally made me a little upset, wasthat they didn't have Harry and Dumbledore talking about the phrophecy...in the book, Harry was in Dumbledore's office throwing things across the room and just in a fit of rage. He was mad at the fact that his only family left was gone and he viewed it as his fault and he was so angry at Dumbledore for cutting him out the entire year.. there was none of that in the movie (which, to me, is kind of important since that is the only time that Harry is ever really angry with Dumbledore.
Also, I was extremely perplexed by the fact that they didn't mention that Ron and Hermione (and Malfoy for that matter) were all made Prefects... that would have taken a whole ten seconds to mention ![]()
And what about Percy Weasly?! Granted, I think he's a prick anyway, but they could have at least thrown in the fact that he was no longer a part of the family because he let his ambition get the better of him...Percy's fallout with the family not being in the film is a little disappointing...
As well as the fact that they didn't show how much Harry was struggling with the fact that he thought his father was a bully after seeing Snape's memories... That was a HUGE internal struggle for Harry because every time people said he was so much like James, he would take it as a compliment, but after seeing Snape's memories, he didn't view it so much as a compliment anymore.
One other thing that I was a little disappointed with was that they didn't have Harry lock himself in his room... Hermione was the only one that was able to coax him out after he sawMr. Weasley being attacked by the snake.. and the fact that he and Ginny shared a common bond over Voldemort is pretty important in their relationship...
I mean, I realize that they had to cut stuff out, but DAMN!!! they should have at least made Harry a LOT angrier and more cut off from his friends because that is how it was in the book... he had an extremely hard time listening to reason..But as I said, the number one thing that bugged me was the fact that Neville was left out of the phrophecy.. ARGH!!!! That is some vital info, there...
Other than the above,I was actually pretty impressed with it! The battle scene especially was EXTREMELY impressive if you ask me.. the only flaw was that they didn't show the kids fighting and they held the Death Eaters off for an extremely long time.. they were like a first wave, almost...
All these kids are improving so much. I was so beyond nervous to see Danielle Radcliffe in this because in all honesty, I wasn't that impressed with his performance in the fourth film.. but he knocked it out of the park in this!! There is a scene where Voldemort possesses Harry and Harry is fighting to get him out of his body... that was brilliantly done and I was just in awe... and the scene with Sirius... oh my. Very touching and very well done.. I liked that they showed him screaming but it was silenced... I think it was a lot more effective..
I don't really have much time to say much else on it, but when I do, I will edit this..I may be going to see it again later! hehehe... Definitely a recommended film.. despite all the flaws that I mentioned in the above, it was one of the films that I enjoyed the most, in all honesty.. they were as true to the book as time allowed, I guess...
