A chef slips & spills a pot of scalding hot water all over her face, a woman falls off a ladder & onto a glass display below, a man gets impaled i the chest by a steel rod after backing up a forklift into a warehouse shelf, a horribly burnt man gets out of a casket and addresses funeral attendees and a drug dealer slowly changes into a monsterous snake-like creature. Images like these are mostly seen in movies or primetime TV; however, I found these disturbing images on a Public Service Announcement. I'm from Canada, so I do know that Canadians are a lot more liberal than the USA. We've seen alot of PSA's; however, we've never seen anything like this in the last few years. First there's a bunch of PSA's fromThe Workplace Safety & Insurance Board in Ontariothat talks about the importance of workplace safety. Each ad has workers talk about how they'll get into an accident because of neglectful things (eg, a chef slips because of uncleaned grease on the floor and a welder gets blown off a highrise, Die Hard-style, after welding near containers of compressed gas), then the ad shows the person gettinginjured from the accident in extremely graphic detail & it ends with the ad saying that there is no accidents because if people were educated about safety there will be alot safer work environment. I think it's good that they realize work place safety is important but they shouldn't resort to shock tatics to get the message across & younger kids might be watching this & they wouldn't want to be scared. Speaking of kids, the Canadian Charity Concerned Children's Advertiser's did a good job of scaring the little ones in their 1993 PSA. It begins with the text on the screen saying: Have you ever thought about taking drugs?. It then cuts to two kids talking to a drug dealer(they're not real people, they're latex puppets which make the ad scarier). The drug dealer offers the kids drugs & when he reaches his hand with drugs out black & white images of drug addicts flash on the screen( If slowed the ad down & have seen images of Elvis, John Belushi, Janis Joplin & people using & overdosing on drugs). It then cuts back to the two kids who refuse the drugs & once the kids walk away, the drug dealer takes off the sunglasses he's wearing revealing his hideous yellow eyes. Americans are not innocent either when it comes to making small children jump out of their seats. Back in the eighties Just say no was the most repeated quote of the decade & one of their ads had kids scared of the TV. Begins with a drug dealer talking to the camera as if he was talking to a kid & saying how he can offer kids drugs & what the parents are saying are lies. While he's talking he walks down a dark part of the street(you can still hear him talking & can see his outline but his face cannot be seen. As he comes into the light his voice is more distorted & his face has turned into of that of snake; it ends with him saying: "they say I'm giving you poison, but do I look like the kind of guy that would hurt a kid like you?

Chris Jericho has been responsible for some of the greatest moments in wrestling history. Like when he first debuted in the WWE in 1999 & when he became the first person to win both the world heavyweight championship & the WWE championship at the same time. However in 2005 he was fired by then general manager Eric Bischoff. But wrestling is not real in the sense of the storylines. In real life he was taking a break from wrestling to persue a career in music & acting. During that period he formed a band, made several tv apperances on canadian shows, celebrity singing contests & even joined a renowned improv group. However many wrestling were questioning if he would return to wrestling & if he did would it be WWE or TNA. During the year 2007 he made several more apperances on Newsshows like Nancy Grace & Larry King to talk about the murder/suicide of his former friend & wrestler Chris Benoit. He also made apperances on canadian talk shows to promote his book about his work in wrestling. During the time period of October-November 2007 several cryptic messages were shown during Raw's programming. What stood out in the messages were the notes of a second coming. Many people were trying hard to figure out the code until last during Randy Orton's passing of the torch ceremony, the torch carrier was clothelined by a unknown assailint. The messages that Raw was getting were decoding itself on the jumbotron until the codes revealed that the man behind those codes was Y2J himselfonce again making wrestling history.

Recently I read an article in the Calgary Herald saying in that during the United States leg of the Hannah Montanna concert tour since tickets are selling out fast ticket prices can reach up to $3000; YOU GOT TO BE F&%ING KIDDIN' ME!. Now if it were for something big like the Led Zepplin reunion tour or Elvis coming back from the dead to perform I'd understand that. But for tickets to see a disney channel star to perform brain numbing bubble gum pop songs that you are going to hear on popular radio 99.9% of the time for $3000 dollars is way, way, way, way, way too much. $3000 to see Hannah Montanna costs more than seeing Beyonce, The Police & even the Rolling Stones. But what's really sad is that once young pre-adolecent hear about this they are going to throw tantrums, cry & scream so loud that it makes an nuclear bomb explosion sound like a whisper, parents are going to go to any lengths just to get those tickets. You just get this sad images in your head of a mother saying: " I remortaged the house, declared bankruptcy & now me family is homeless, but I'll do anything to see my little Lisa happy"

Jingle All the Way
This film for some reason always gets me in the christmas spirit. Personally I think alot of critics were too harsh on this film. For a family holiday film it was actually making some pop culture references to the Tickle-Me Elmo craze that...
