So much has changed in the last two years that to be HBO series just don't compare to Showtime. Now this is coming from someone who has both channels and watches most of the series. With the recent end of Sex and the City, Six Feet Under, and the soon to be gone Soprano's HBO's remaining series don't have as much fire power. On the other hand Showtime's series Huff, Weeds, Dexter, and Brotherhood have much better writing, are more grounded, and have amazing actors. Give me your opinions on this.

At the momet in time Showtime are creaming HBo. They have more shows at the moment that are/will hopefully be addictive. The Sopranos, Rome and Deadwood are/will be over soon enough and aside from Big Love and the upcoming SexLife, HBO do need more programs to balance things out. But they are both good stations mind.

I agree with you Vokilij, HBO well there's not much too watch there, but showtime offers so many programs, I'm just trying to figure out where the programs are on my bell express vu. Now the Huff is off the air I'm looking for new shows, I really like weeds which I only found last week on diva and i love entourage. Keep up the good postage Vokilij.

Showtime is in control right now. "Weeds" and "Dexter" for instance are two of the best shows on television right now, in my opinion. The fact that those two alone are so different from each other shows the creatvity edge. HBO altelast has Bill Maher! Showtime, however, also has Penn & Teller.

I guess I can't comment much since I'm not staying in the states, and I don't have cable. However, I kinda agree with you - Showtime does have a lot of shows with new ideas, and they have a great line of production crew with unmeasureable creativity - take Queer as Folk as an example, which I believe is the breakthrough show for Showtime and something we've never seen on TV before.

I'm a really big fan of Six Feet Under, and I've always think that the finale of Season 5 will have a large impact on the network. Hope HBO would soon have new shows that would not only win the votes of Emmy's, but also win the hearts of thousands of faithful viewers - viewers like us.

I don't watch much Showtime but HBO was pretty awesome last year with Big Love, Entourage and Lucky Louie. Plus they have Sex and the City and Six Feet Under under their belt. I definitely prefer HBO to Showtime over all, but I haven't watched much Showtime lately
