Ok, so I have a strange question. A very, very, very strange one, that I hope someone on here can help me with. Ok so it's really 2 questions and here I go.

1). How come on CSI: Miami when the police go with them to a crime scene they are called Miami Dade Police Department. Now I looked it up on my old friend goggle and it is in fact called MDPD, but my question is why. In places such as New York, they are called New York Police Department (NYPD). So why does Miami have Dade in it?

2). So my second question is focused more on people from the UK, but anyone who knows this please help me out. I noticed the other day, that the channel LivingTv only airs CSI and CSI Miami. They do not air CSI NY. My question is why?

Question 2. CBS Studios International sells content from CBS Television Studios, CBS Television Distribution, Showtime, CBS News, CBS Films and a library of more than 70,000 hours of programming to more than 200 markets. It usually packages deals - the packages are take it or leave it - so maybe the cost of the CSI & CSI:Miami are packaged together & CSI:NY would cost another sum that is packaged with shows LivingTV is not interested in. It's all about what a station is willing to pay. As an after thought, Five.tv is supposed to air CSI:NY season 6 in Jan 2010.

Question 1. It refers to Miami-Dade County - sometimes referred to as Dade County. CSI:Miami is about the MD County PD. The city of Miami is in this county - the city of Miami also has a Miami Police Dept. Miami-Dade county encompasses more than 2,000 square miles (larger than the states of Rhode Island and Delaware). One-third of Miami-Dade County is located in Everglades National Park. Our community is located along the southeast tip of the Florida peninsula. It is bounded by Biscayne Bay and the Atlantic Ocean to the east, Everglades National Park to the west, the Florida Keys to the south, and Broward County to the North.

TesserT gives you the answer that is correct. I was at Super Bowl 41 a couple of years ago which was the first time I saw this.
