.

Well whaddya know... feelin pretty good for the second day in a row - even after running some errands and doing some chores yesterday. Maybe a sense of accomplishment is good for the soul (like everybody says).

Even made it to the store (I was foraging around through the cabinets looking for food the last few days cuz I couldn't get off me lazy arse to run up the street). While I was limping up and down the aisles, I heard a remake of an old Joni Mitchell favorite that I hadn't heard in a year or so. Then later that evening I heard another version of the same song while channel surfing (Two Weeks Notice) - and you know how I love coincidences,

Anyway... there's also a backstory to the singer of the first version that gives me one degree of separation from her. But let's hear the two renditions, first:

THEY PAVED PARADISE

...and

PUT UP A PARKING LOT

o

Turns out that the first singer, Amy Grant, is married to an almost ex-brother-in-law of mine (have I told this one before?). Long story short...

AMY GRANT, VINCE GILL and CHILD

I was going with a girl (Chris Oliver of Sweethearts of the Rodeo) when her sister, Janis, started seeing country music singer, Vince Gill (he was more of a rocker back then). Janis and Vince got serious and ended up married (Chris and I, not so much), and had what all of the Memphis/Country people thought was the ideal marriage. Yah... Right.

Towards the end, Vince started having an affair with Amy (it was quite the scandal), both of their marriages broke up and then they married each other and have had at least one child. So I'm one degree separated from Amy (if you're reading, Amy, call me).

o

BTW... this is my third try at this blog (I was 90% done both times, and, I guess, tv.com decided that maybe they just don't want me writing blogs anymore).

And it hardly bothered me at all (bites tongue, whimpers and polishes the gun he hasn't used in years).

...Jon

.

EDIT: In the past 16 hours, several good friends have written about the changes to this site - especially the moderation - and how they're not gonna take it anymore. I smell a boycott in the air.
More to come on this.

ALSO: Has anyone heard from MarksVigil lately... he should have posted a G-Rated Blog 4 or 5 days ago.

UPDATE... heard he's fine, just real busy.

Ah, I see TV.Com is been glitchy again. I've been tempted to chuck this computer out of the window many times!

Not Hugh Grant! I've put up with so much, because people always claim I look like him! Personally, I can't see why think that.

Hugh.

Hello! I agree with Hugh TV.com is clearly having a pms moment! Glad your feelin better and love the Yellow Taxi song! I understand the whole moderation thing and of course why they do it, i just think sometimes they go a bit over the top about it.
Take Care John. xx

Ol' Tom Morris (look it up) -

Yup, Hugh (isn't he scrumptious...lol) and a former favorite of mine, Sandra Bullock (loved her in the early years).

If they were having temp probs while switching over their programmin - that would be one thing. But lately, I've been hearing about Mods going wild and thinking this is THEIR site... not gonna happen.

** Digs around in his FIRST bag-o-prizes and remembers he never had a bag-o-prizes to begin with. Takes his hand out of the garbage pail **

Amy -

I've read four blogs in the last 36 hours where people are either fed up or quitting the site because of the Mods (It's like the 60's back in Liverpool)...

Pix -

Sounds like you're up for about anything...

Whaddya doin later (or should I say, "How you doin?")

Jon

Off topic - there aren't any spoilers in my Batman Blog... You can read the whole thing

On Topic - -
This site is always glitchy... I was hoping that was just part of it's charm

What should we expect from a free site though? Way better than MySpace even on a bad day though... imo

Hold up, wait just one minute... Vince Gil used to be a rocker? Damn.

TV.com glitches? Get outta town. I've been sort of searching for a new home but haven't found anything with a big enough back yard.

As for moderation, I haven't had any issues with that. Not sure what I'm doing right but I hope it keeps up.

Good to hear things are coming up Jon. Hope it keeps up.

I can't quit TV.com, then I would have to hang out with my non-internet friends...and I really like all of you so much better.

I haven't heard from Mark either, I was wondering about him myself. Hopefully he's just been busy with real life.

I'm glad you've been feeling better lately, unfortunately these things take time but you seem to be improving all the time.

Lisa -

So it's OK to go back into the water... I'll be back (two movie cliches in one sentence - woohoo).

Al -

Vince was well-known in the South Bay (of Los Angeles) for his rendition of 'My Old School' by Steely Dan.

You prob just haven't been caught yet (by the moderators, that is).

Jen -

We need to get those jerks who are harassing our friends to wise up, see. (Now say it ala Edward G. Robinson - it's much more effective that way, see).

Yup... feelin better for coupla days in a row (as opposed to the prev 10 which were hell).

Jon
Posted Jul 20, 2008 12:20 pm PT
I still like Joni Mitchell's version of that song best.
Posted Jul 20, 2008 12:43 pm PT
I knew exactly what kind of 1940s gangster voice you were using before I even read the parentheses.
Posted Jul 20, 2008 1:03 pm PT
Angel -

I do too, but I didn't want to post all three (and I kinda like the arrangement on the CC version).

Jen -

The 'see' gave it away, didn't it.

It's great that you're feeling good for another day Intesting Vince/Amy story. I didn't know about that at all. I actually listen to both of their music (though they're not my favorite by far). I'm not sure what's been going on with tv.com because my submissions have been sitting around for a few days now with no reply...

Jon, an original poem just for you!!!

Glitches, glitches
keep me in stitches
I laugh till I weep
But keep blogging, I'll keep
'Til I've been put down the ditches.

Bright Blessings ~S~

Hope u have a good week.

Fwir -

Yah... I ran into Vince at a golf tournament and thot we'd catch up (didn't know at the time about Amy) and when I mentioned Chris and Janis he went dumb like I was a detective grilling him about a murder. The story broke a coupla months later.

Surry -

Wow... our very own 'glitch' poem... it's like poetry on demand.

Miles -

Good to hear about Mark. With him being among natives (and with all of the moderator crap going on), I thought we might not hear from him for awhile.

Glad you're feeling better, Jon. Two Weeks Notice is one of my favorite movies in recent years. I know it was panned, but I's a sucker for a romantic comedy. I always write my blogs in Word and copy to TV.com. Then if it won't post I still have the whole blog to work from. I was just reading Sparkle's blog about all her trouble. I don't get it. So far they haven't bothered me, except for being off topic on a forum a long time ago. Glad to hear Mark is OK.

you have a reply to puma.. puma was here? where? thought she's on vacation?

My favorite singer Joe Dassin does a French version of this song.

F/Lin -

All us hippies loved it... but I heard the other two versions in the same day, so...

Mom -

I want to believe I'm gettin better... I really, really do...

Hugh and Sandra have a little somethin goin on (I think she likes likes him).

Pix -

I think she stopped by on her way outta town.

Phin -

Of all the people who came out with remakes, Counting Crows had the best arrangement (haven't heard yours, though).

Jon
Posted Jul 20, 2008 7:29 pm PT
Haha, coincidences. Hmm, the movie has Sandra Bullock in it.. have you seen it? It must be good if Sandra Bullock is in it. I hope Amy calls. I think Mark is hoping that we've all forgotten about that G-rated blog.
Posted Jul 20, 2008 10:10 pm PT
Yay for a sense of accomplishment i love that movie! Hugh and Sandra are two of my favorites omg that scandal is crazyy hope Amy callls ya i saw Vince Gill live at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville a few years back..he was ok..lol.. oh..and i talked to Mark the other day and hes fine he's just really super duper duper busy lately hope all is well ttyl-Emily
Posted Jul 20, 2008 10:59 pm PT
Well, you wouldn't have it's probably from the 1970s... probably late 1970s, Joe died in 1982 so it could be the early 1980s though.
Posted Jul 20, 2008 11:38 pm PT
Hey Jon...

just dropping by to say Hi.. work has been mad this week (and weekend!! *sigh) but am glad to hear that u are feeling a lil better... yeah... Puma is now on hols.. take care hunni xx

I LOVE TWO WEEKS NOTICE!!! Because I love Hugh Grant
Posted Jul 21, 2008 3:03 am PT
Was it the version that Counting Crows does? They are my fav band of ALL TIME. I am seeing them in concert next Monday for the 6th time. Glad you are doing well.

Posted Jul 21, 2008 8:51 am PT
uh u have some weird connections i loved the song (as usual ) i heard it a lot of times but i never knew the title and i'm gonna download it now i havent noticed any changes here. maybe because i wasnt here this week ... dunno. a boycott? oh my Dempsey.

Pix -

Starting off with you... so sorry that I somehow put Puma's name up there. i had just reread comments from the prev coupla blogs where Puma was first and forgot where I was. Plus - you two being twins confused me ( and the sun was in my eyes, I had a rock in my shoe and the dog ate my comment).

Whew... that's all the lame excuses I've got.

Sorry,

Jon

Ivy -

Saw the movie when it first came out (but it had been a coupla years til last Saturday). Only caught a few minutes, and that's when they played the song.

Can't imagine Mark writing NOTHING for five days... so he must be busy.

Em -

Didn't realize that movie was so popular (I was embarrassed to admit I like it). Woke up again today feeling decent - 3 days in a row... woohoo.

Phin -

Thought it was more recent... I'll have to look that up.

Jon

Tish -

Thanks... glad you're feeling better, too. I guess no after effects from your driving booboos.

Please explain to Pix (she's prob not talking to me anymore) how I made my mistake. When I bold someone's name, I copy and then paste it into the next comment and switch out the name inside the html. If I forget to change the name (I've done it many times and then quickly edit it), it'll show the name of who I first copied.

Of all people to forget to switch out names on, it was Pix for Puma (just another coincidence).

Cenina -

You girls really love your Hugh (wonders if he should remind everyone that Hugh got caught on a Hollywood side-street with a hooker when Elizabeth Hurley was supposedly pregnant with their baby - but decides against it).

Ayn -

The second version (above) was Counting Crows from the Hugh/Sandra movie.

Jon

Pix -

See the re-comment above. Again... so sorry (don't worry... I've had a girl or two scream out another man's name myself - and vice-versa).

Gix -

Yah... I really should do an autobiography - people would me amazed at some of the things I've been involved with.

Except for some site glitches, I hadn't either... til I read several blogs by friends. But I quit submitting and dealing with Mods several months ago when I didn't like some of their responses.

Jon
Posted Jul 21, 2008 10:30 am PT
yeah well, dealing with mods can be seriously frustrating i try to send good contributions but some responses i get arent what i expect them to be.
Posted Jul 21, 2008 12:39 pm PT
haha no embarrassment here YAY for decent-feeling days woohooo! **eavesdropping in on other ppl's comments** you should DEFF write an autobiography.. that would be cool i would read it ttyl-Emily
Posted Jul 21, 2008 1:53 pm PT
Pix... u and Puma are twins???
Posted Jul 21, 2008 2:06 pm PT
Gix -

When I started out, two out of three submissions got rejected... then i found out how the game was played (and the good mods) and started getting 9 out of 10 accepted... then they switched a lot of them out and I wasn't in the mood to start all over again (plus the regulas seasons ended for my shows).

Em -

I've discussed it with friends and THEY think I should do an AutoB, too.

Tish -

No... U girls are triplets - I'm just the guy peeking in the back bedroom window. .

Jon
Posted Jul 21, 2008 3:26 pm PT
im not twin with puma, tish.. you are.. Jon forgot to eat his medicine.. please excuse his blunder (too many ppl want me.. KIDDING!! )

Jon, relax.. im not made in china (oh wait.. no offense intended.. i meant to say im not a china doll.. not fragile ).. no apologies needed, Jon.. so you made a mistake (or more ).. big deal next time eat your meds k *pinch jon's cheek for being a sweetie...

(and the sun was in my eyes, I had a rock in my shoe and the dog ate my comment) --> that is lame btw

so, does that mean i have to answer your question?

I love Hugh Grant as actor. I couldn't love him as a person because I don't know him and never will. So I actually don't care what he did (he's not going to be a politician right?!? ) and I simply enjoy his movies, a lot But I agree that he did bad things...
Ciao

Pix -

Cool as an evening breeze in the middle of sprin

Em -

I've got one more chapter to live... and then about 30 chapters to write.

Cenina -

Very sensible. I always enjoy his movies (Mickey Blue Eyes), but I have no idea who he is as a person.

Gix -

Again... very sensible. My problem was that I turned in some great allusions and trivia, and the moderator was too dumb to understand (or wasn't even familia with the show).
