Haha I just noticed i have my emblem for watching all 3 press conferences.
on the description is says:
Virtually There: E3 2008 The Big Three Conferences
For tuning into GameSpot's E3 2008 live broadcast of all three of the manufacturer press conferences (Sony, Nintendo, and Microsoft) on July 14-15. That's dedication.
((Pats myself on the back))
I didn't post anything on the last two conferences because well... There wasn't much to say... Nintendo announced the MotionPlus and some new games but nothing really amazing... And the motionPlus kinda annoys me... Now I have to buy MORE pieces for the controller all sold separately... I dont want to be paying 60-70 dollars for a controller.
The most pleasing news was WiiMusic which actually looks fun... Have you ever seen the "Mr. Bean" Christmas episode where he conducts "God rest ye merry gentleman"? its like that but you can elect to play as well... So I'm actually looking forward to that game...
And Sony... Well it wasn't e3 2006 but it wasn't great either... They announced a video store through PSN but that kinda falls on deaf ears when XBox already has that plus NetFlix. Then they announced God of War 3 but it was nothing but a trailer. No actual details about the game.
What I did like was MAG (Massive Action Game) its an epic warfare game with 256 players... I am a little worried that this will fail simply because your average gamer lacks the military training that an actual army would get... (I picture whole squads breaking rank and ruining a well planned attack )
And DC Universe Online... If I had a PS3 this would be the game i was most exciting about (from E3 announcments). You get to play with or against all DC comic heros... which is kinda cool...
So not bad, but still, I was hoping for something in either conference to rival the shock of FFXIII for XBox360.
So It's that time again... E3.
I started by watching the "Sony's Embarassing E3 Press Conference" Youtube video and then loaded up the live feed... And tried again... and again... until 15 minutes in, Microsoft's Conference loaded.
I had definitely grown to respect XBox alot in these last 2 years... They need to keep getting games like Assassin's Creed and they will be alright. Still, I am not regretting my purchase of the Wii. In fact I lowered my Wii Fitness age 3 more years today...
So to my recap of the press conference. It was ... ok... I dont really like the new dashboard and the ever so slightly fimiliar "Make a cartoon-like representation of yourself... But all in all they made some surprising announcements. GoW2, NetFlix, NBC Universal (I can't wait to download the new Office episodes...)
And they get an A+ for finishing on a good note: FFXIII Announced!!! When I jumped off the Sony ship in 2006 (See the first line of my post for y) Not being able to play the next Final Fantasy was the one regret I did have. Not only is this yet another killer game for the XBox360 but this has numerous industry ramifications as well.
I mean think about it... When you think of Sony what comes to mind... The Juggernaut Exclusives you can look forward to. Metal Gear, Gran Turismo and Final Fantasy are well known ones... For it to no longer be exclusive gives me doubts not only for the PS3 but for the future of Sony! In the last 2 years they have lost quite a number of their major exclusives. I'm anxious to see how they plan to counteract this new development.
My only complaint... why didn't they let the camera zoom in... I have to download the trailer now to see what it exactly said.
So one down two to go. See everyone in the live chat...
Ahh it's nice to be back home again...
I thought I would add another post to my blog... because im allowed to blog about my job at the University (yes... not only do i go to school but I work there as well... In fact my many 14 hour days taking classes and working is where I got the nickname University Guy ) as long as I watch what i say... but Research In Motion's policy is DONT! and just to be safe I decided not to blog anything...
So topic title... I noticed my Wii Launch emblem finally got added to my name... I could only chuckle at the irony of saying how i've switched sides to the Wii-camp yet due to me joining the feed late only had a PS3 launch emblem...
Thank you very much to the gamespot crew for changing that...I remember joining the end of a very long queue of people asking for the same thing... I cant imagine this being a very interesting task... Especially if they had to verify I had in fact watched at least an hour... So If they see this, know I appreciate it.
So I just read through my emblems and I have to chuckle at the fact that half of my emblems are ____ virtually there... I do go outside, I promise! lol
