If you love The Office, you are guaranteed to love this movie. I, however, am getting very tired of cringe-marathons like this. Danny McBride's brutally clueless and cruel character is extremely funny, but it's far too painful to consider the normal people in his path.

I try to imagine that it's all just a movie, and the director says "cut" and all the actors have a laugh. It's just hard when he's trying to hit on a student that obviously is not interested or any of the other humiliating failures he runs into.

A little girl helping her father prepare a syringe of heroin is dark. It takes quite a mind and set of balls to go darker and more bizarre. Knowing when exactly to let up is impressive. Making it constantly entertaining and watchable is what really matters.

This isn't just some experiment in being demented and unpleasant. And it's not a gimmicky exercise in putting a cute face in a horrific situation. It is a multifaceted film executed expertly that is rewarding to watch and to rewatch.

The otherworldliness of the characters, and their being separated from almost any normal people seems to me to be an important part of my enjoyment of this movie. Without a truly sane parent or even outside to protect Jeliza Rose, the movie is slightly unsettling even when the particular scene you are watching is pleasant or optimistic. The lack of such a person also makes the movie less realistic, which dulls any possible sting of the movie's darkest and most bizarre sections.

I also want to stress that there is an underlying warmth to the movie, and that none of the characters are monsters, but all of them could definitely use some help from healthy and caring people.

Also, Wally Wolodarsky from the Simpsons, who granted a surname to The Life Aquatic, plays Brendan, Owen Wilson's assistant. I'm a gigantic Simpson fan as shown by my avatar, so I find that interesting.

David Herman is probably best known for playing Michael Bolton on Office Space, and he was really funny in that. But he's also done a lot of voices on Futurama, King of the Hill, and American Dad. His recurring voices on Futurama were Wernstrom and Mayor Poopenmayer, and he was also the hilarious whale biologist in the 300 Big Boys episode. He's also that retarded Jimmy character on King of the Hill, who is always funny. Most recently, he shows up here and there on American Dad. He was also a cabinet member in Idiocracy, the one who keeps saying "brought to you by Carl's Jr." If you're into animated shows and like to be able to spot certain voice actors, I recommend getting familiar with David Herman.

I have never seen a movie that affected me the way this one has. Affected isn't the right word. This movie destroyed me. Tears were running down my face the entire movie. Once you know who this man was, what he learns, what he goes through, and what the park means to him, the shot of him on that swing is the most beautiful thing you will ever see in your life. There have been movies that try to be sad or moving or heartwarming or touching. Every single one of them is phony garbage compared to this movie. I will remember it until the day I die.

If you love the show, you'll love the movie. If not, this is not for you. The opening song is the funniest thing possibly ever, the title sequence is extremely cool, and the whole is pure Aqua Teen hilarity.
