I watched this film the other day and was surprised to how good it was. What really overwhelmed me was how much sexuality there is in this film but man did christian bale give off such a good role as patrick bateman. He really did steal the show with his performance as the wierd guy he played as.
It was really wierd watching to how he killed his victims and yet lived a normal life as a rich guy in the 1980's. If you like sick and yet twisted films then do the favor and see this but if you don't then it is advised to stay away.

Hostel was written and directed by eli roth. The film told the story of a few guys who tour europe looking for girls. One night they are coming back and miss the curfew and nearly cause a scene. upon causing it a guy calls them up to his den where they are told of this place called hostel.
Upon finding out there are girls they set out towards the town. upon going there they think it is heaven but one by one they are sold off for being torured and killed. I liked it alot and thought it was a good horror film. The budget was cheap(approximitally 10 million to make) but it was a well done horror film.
Stuff like this can happen in real life so it is easy to relate to. The movies drawback had to be the gore effects. They were very cheap but concidering the budget of the film it is passable.
I personally think eli roth is going to be one good horror film director and with films like cabin fever, hostel, the fake trailer thanksgiving and the upcoming hostel part 2 I can easily see how much better he is getting to be.

I went to see spider man 3 at IMAX concidering I like movies with the ultimate sound and picture quality. When going to see it I expected the best and thats what I gotten. I was excited about the film when I heard that venom would be the movies main villians or just one of them. The film this time around takes place just after the events of number 2. Peter parker and mary jane watson are just in the verge of a great relationship but with his friend harry osborne out for revenge things get much worse for him. The film opened up with a great chase sequence between harry and pete as harry donned his fathers serum and went chasing peter throughout half of manhatten as it so seemed. The visual effects and stunt work was well worth the money. When sand man comes into the picture things get better. The animation that went into the creation of sandman was just phenominal. He looked very realistic and yet very awesome. It was after that when peter parker gets attacked by the black symbiote suit that caused his transformation into somebody he is not after learning the sandmans responsibility for his uncles death. I wont go into many more details but I gotta say the biggest show stopper had to be venom because he kicked ass. The animation on his suit and the way he looked and sound was very cool.If I could complain it would only be that venoms voice didn't sound like he did in the show but aside of that he was freakin awesome. All and all it was a good experience its just if they didn't really focus on the relationship between peter and mary jane it would be much better then it already was. If you plan on seeing one movie this summer see spider man 3 because the 3 year wait was well worth it.

Silent hill is based off the hit konami video games that spawned to consoles since 1999. the movie's story lies intact with the first one in somewhat way. The movie stars rose(radha mitchell) who is this mother who takes her daughter to silent hill only to have her daughter taken away from the forces of darkness that plague this ghost like town. Upon her adventure she goes through many of the locals from the video game like midwitch elementary school and brookehaven hospital. During her journey she runs into the police officer who suspects her of killing her daughter and also a satanic cult of christians who believe on killing people who believe are witches.Other supporting cast includes sean bean as the father, jodelle ferland as alessa gillespi, deborah karen unger as dahlia gillespi and laurie holden as the police officer cybil. The movie had a good cast but the strong point is the special effects and art direction. By first watching this movie I was wowed to how good the art team did to capture the feel of the games into this movie. all the monsters from the patients, nurses and pyramid head all look great and not done in any cheap way. What I also liked was the screenplay. It was written by roger avary who won an academy award for his adaptation of pulp fiction back in the early 1990's. That was a good writer to select to this film. The guy who directed it by the name of christophe gans was a decent choice. He doesnt have much of a career but how he did with this movie impressed me and it could open up his career to more movie offers. Nw concidering that this is a video game based movie there is the occassional cheesy dialogue and some funny scripted scenes but all in all it was a good video game adapted film.

This was write/ director james camerons first outing into the movie industry and it really showed. The film is about 2 people who go through a time portal to the era 1984. One of them is a resistence fighter kyle reese and the other is a cyberdyne unit terminator. Both of them have a purpose and is to locate sara conner. Arnold schwarzenneger did a great job portraying the nasty killing machine and showed alot. His character never talked except for maybe a few lines. The action was there and was very intense but what kinda ruined it was the special effects. They were just subpar but the main focus on this film was its storyline. It was just great and labeled this film down as a classic more then anything.Terminator was a great accomplishment and it is sad that now more are coming out just to ruin this license.

Academy Award winning Writer/ Director peter jackson brought king kong to theaters in late 2005. The movie was about a group of explorers who go out to film a movie on this forbidden island called skull island. Carl denham brings along ann farrow who was this aspiring actress who was in love with jack driscolls screenplays. Upon her knowing that jack driscoll has written the screenplay she got on board for the project knowing she would fall in love with jack upon the journey. When getting to the island natives kidnap ann and end up feeding her to the beast king kong not knowing the giant ape would fall in love with her. upon seeing the beast the crew ventures out to the wilderness to find ann and the giant ape. One thing I loved about this movie is the visual effects. It was pure brilliant to see and hear these amazing effects of this film. Peter jacksons WETA studios who brought the lord of the rings trilogy to life done the special effects on king kong. The way it was filmed and how realistic king kong looked was overwhelming. The battle sequence with kong versing the 3 tyranosaurs was just amazingly well done. The way it was motion captured and shot was just amazing. The extended cut theres a scene that was similar to the old one where the crew go on a river raft through the swamp and run into a large prehistoric fish that ends up eating half the crew. It was phenominal to how these special effects and stunt work was done and it really does feel like watching a remake true to the original. Naomi watts' performance was great as so was jack blacks and adrian brody's. Peter jackson did a well done job on bringing these characters back to life again. This film was money well spent(206 million to make) and the team at WETA deserved the academy awards for best visual effects and sound design. For whoever is a fan of king kong pick up the extended cut which features 15 extra minutes of great footage not in the theatrical release. It also comes with hours of amazing bonus features dwelling deeper into the production of this great film. If you havent seen king kong yet then do the favor and see it because it was amazing

George lucas did a so so job with adapting episode 1 and 2. He really suffered into bringing the story out and instead focused on the mind bending special effects and sound design as well as the stunts of the first 2 films in the prequel trilogy. In may 2005 when episode 3 hit theaters I walked in expecting the worst but surprisingly expected the best. This film picks up right after number 2 just 3 years later and enters the scene with obi wan kenobi and anakin skywalker going through a deadly space battle of courascant in order to save the chancellor from general grievous and count dooku. The movie featured amazing special effects, sound and picture quality and also delivered a much much better story. For those 5 or so years we all awaited to see anakin's transformation into darth vader and after the unsuccess with the storylines in 1 and 2 we were thought to be dissapointed but werent.I know hayden christenson as anakin cant act for a thing and just seeing him say some of the lines was just funny but ewan mcgregor as obi wan and natalie portman as padme's performances were alittle bit better.Frank oz's voice as yoda was amusing concidering he was the voice of yoda ever since empire strikes back and samuel l jacksons performance as mace windu was alright at best. Seeing how anakin brought out his anger through the first half of the movie all the way to him becomming chancellor palpatines apprentice it all came clear at the end to how he donned the mask of the infamous darth vader. It was just a roller coaster ride from beginning to end and it really did show what george lucus' studio ILM(Industrial Light and Magic) can really do these days. All the way to the storyline to special effects and to the fighting choreography it was just brilliantly done. It was also shot in glorious High Deffinition so it could show all the smallest textures on screen.Een with haydens poor acting this film could go down as one of the best star wars films in the prelude trilogy and personally I thought it was well done job.

James cameron is one of my all time favorite writer/directors. In this classic of his aliens it continues the storyline directly straight from the events of alien. The movie centers on ripley(sygorney weaver) who is drifting through space under suspended animation directly after killing the alien from the commercial ship. After being rescued from a small group of space miners ripley awakens from her coma inside a hospital and learns the truth. Shes been asleep for 57 years and through the years the civilization has been colonizing on different planets.including the planet where ripley discovered the alien at.One day she gets a visit from the marines to go with them to the colonized planet LV 426 to reconfront her nightmare once again. I dont know what is there bad to say about this film. It was excellent. The script was solid and the alien creature creation was well done under stan winstons shop. The stunts were great and the introduction of the alien queen was its best high mark. Supporting cast uncluding bill paxton as the over too worried marine, micheal beihn as the leader of the marine squad and paul reiser as burke. The special effects to todays time is average at best but for its time when it came out they were something else. The sound quality of the film was great and trully this is a sci fi classic and it was this movie that made the whole alien license so popular.

This was steven spielbergs less impressive motion pictures out there. Filmed in under 73 or so days the production on war of the worlds was rushed so they could've gotten it out on the june 2005 target release date. The moviecentered on ray fehryer who is a father watching his kids on a weekend. During the first day ray encounters problems with his son and then sees a mysterious hole in the sky. Upon watching it the form of thunder strikes the ground and later realizes that an alien invasion has occured. The movies story was very different then the book. The book took place in 1898 and showed the martians coming down to earth in green meteorites from mars. In this version they came down in the form of seeds and rose from the ground. They also came from what steven speilberg says is "up there" due to people dont believe martians live on mars anymore. What I didnt like was that screenwriter david koepp and josh friedman went in and made up the whole setting. even though the machines werent from mars and it wasnt in 1898 it still didnt prevent it from keeping it faithful to the books events. The part where the machine rose from the ocean and knocked the boat on its side was in the film. The scene where they hide in the basement and the aliens come down there looking for them was intact as well and the fact the machines drained peoples blood and used it as weeds was intact too. The movie's big draw point was the special effects and sound design. ILM(Industrial Light and Magic) really took the hard effort to make the visuals and sound effects work because it really did. I was more impressed with the production quality of the movie then the storyline to be honest. The machines looked cool but in the book they sounded more organic and are less machine like then they are in the movie. The aliens also didnt take the appearence as giant brain like aliens with tentacles. If that idea worked in this film they would've gotten the sense of being much scarier looking then they originally were. War of the worlds was okay but it could've been a tad bit better on the storyside.

Alien and predator have been my all time favorite motion pictures from 20th century fox. When I was little I used to read the alien vs predator comic books from dark horse and wondered to myself what if this became a movie? Well in 2003 when paul anderson announced he would adapt alien vs predator from the comic books to the big screen I was skeptical. Paul anderson was known for so so films in his past like shopping, mortal kombat, event horizon, solider and even resident evil. When he did alien vs predator my hopes went down but after seeing trailers I was thinking good things about it. The movie starred sanna lathen as lex who is an explorer that one day gets the call from weylands heper to go on an expedition. She meets mr weyland himself who was portrayed by no other then lance henriksen and ends up getting paid by him. She ends uptaking a team of researchers to the bottom of the ice to check out this heat signal which lead to be a perfectly preserved tomb. Upon entering the tomb one of the members accidentally steps on a switch that awakens the alien queen into producing eggs and lures the predators there to start a war that was ravaged between the 2 species 100's of years ago. One thing that impressed me was the visual effects. The movies budget was in the 50 million range and what was well spent on it was the visual effects and creature costuming. The set detailing was also good and casting was decent as well. If I were to name the problems it would be that the film is short, some of the acting in the film were laughable and some of the scenes that took part didnt make sense. Since I am a fan I liked the movie alot and its a shame it couldnt turn out to be much better then it already is.

300 is based off of the frank miller graphic novel and is a telling of the 300 spartans that fought the persian empire. The film was very impressive. It was filmed out of the united states inside a sound stage using the latest in high definition cameras as well as visual effects.Gerard Butler did a really good job portraying king leonidis who lead his team of spartans against the whole empire. Following cast includes lena headey as queen gorgo, dominic west as theron, david wenhem as dilios, vincent regan as the captain and rodrigo santoro as the evil xerxes. If I were to say the best part about the film had to be the action scenes. They were well choreographed and also showed alot of work went into doing them as well. The physical ability the team had to put the actors through in order to accomplish what they wanted was just overwhelming and just proved how much of a good movie this really was. Story wise it wasnt there at all. there was story but what was there was minimal since the whole rest of the film showed the partan warriors fighting against the empire. Bottom line is if you havent seen 300 yet then do so because the version I saw was at IMAX and it was well worth the money to see. Don't wait for this film to come on DVD just see it in the theater, it is highly worth it.
