1. GENO!!!!
(series: Mario)
(premiere: Super Mario RPG, SNES, 1996)
(Square Enix)
Why he's overrated:
Geno is BY FAR the most highly supported 3rd Party character for SSB4 and, before Brawl was released, the most highly supported 3rd party candidate for that, too. Hey, Geno fans, I've got 1 question for you? What... the... fudge?!?! I mean, seriously! GENO?!?!? He was in 1 game back in 1996, produced by a less Nintendo-affiliated 3rd party company, for a series that already has too many reps.... GOD! It's just madness!
Seriously, before Brawl was announced, I hadn't ever even heard of Geno. If there are going to be 3rd party characters in a Smash Bros. game, they have to be well known or contemporary (from a game released in the past 10 years) or both. Megaman is well known, Bomberman is well known, Rayman is well known, GENO IS NOT WELL KNOWN!
And, if we're talkin' more Mario character then why is Geno the first character that comes to mind? Toad's been a playable character since Super Mario Bros. 2, Paper Mario has had 3 games entirely focused on him. Why don't they get as much love? Hell, even a character from THE SAME GAME as Geno, Mallow, is more funkadellically funky fresh!
Now, I know that Geno's lasers and stretchy arms give him a lot of potential for a good moveset but... it's not like Paper Mario, Toad, Megaman, Bomberman, and Rayman are lacking in moves either. And, besides, we already have a retro laser guy and his name is R.O.B!
2.RIDLEY!!!

(series: Metroid)
(premiere: Metroid, NES, 1986)
(Nintendo)
Why he's overrated:
Okay, so Ridley's a villain, okay? And Ridley is a reptile, okay? And Ridley can fly, okay? That makes him a great character, right? WRONG!
Last time I checked, we Smash Bros. already had 2 reptilian characters: Charizard who can fly and Bowser who's a villain. Also, wheever you think of a potential moveset for Ridley, what do you think of? BREATHING FIRE! Bowser and Charizard have that in common, too and, more likely than not, it'll be the neutral B move again. So, what's Kirby gonna think about having THREE Fire breathing related copy powers?!? If I were him I'd want Sakurai to get his butt in gear and give me some variety!
Now, I know that the Metroid series is in need of a 2nd character but what fans fail to realize is that Metroid HAS a second character, Zero Suit Samus! I mean, sure she's a transformation and all, but all of her moves are totally original.
Now, some may argue that Zero Suit Samus is just a Samus without her suit so, she doesn't count as a seperate rep. Well, if you think that Metroid's worthy of a 2nd character, it's not like Ridley is your only option. Dark Samus and the Metroid Prime Hunters are both fairly major characters and, in my eyes, would be WAAAAAAAAY cooler than Ridley, if one of them got in.
The final thing that I'd like to address is that, though I don't support Ridley AT ALL, it's not because he's 'too big'. People that hate Ridley because he's big fail to see Sakurai's amazing ability to make characters just the right size to fight. Olimar, Kirby, Meta Knight, and Bowser have all been re-sized, so... yeah!
3. Chrono

(series: Chrono Trigger)
(premiere: Chrono Trigger, SNES, 1995)
(Square Soft)
Why he's overrated:
Chrono is overrated for much the same reason that Geno is, he's 3rd party and hasn't been heard from in the last decade. The other reason why he's overrated is because of his sword. I think that Ike, Marth, Link, Meta Knight, and Toon Link have the 'sword fighter' categorie pretty well covered. I hear that he has magic, too but Zelda has magic and, if we wanted another magic character, Ashley or Kamek would make more much sense because they'd be so easy to get the licensing to. Though, Chrono Trigger might have been a good game, unless Chrono Trigger get revived or Nintendo buys the rights to the game, Chrono's chances in Smash bros. are like a snowball's chance in hell.
4. ISAAC!!!!

(series: Golden Sun)
(premiere: Golden Sun, GBA, 2001)
(Nintendo)
Why he's overrated:
Well, there's not much to say about Isaac that hasn't already been said for Chrono but I can say that, though there are many games in the Golden Sun series, there are much more deserving 'new' Nintendo series reps. out there. Like I said for Chrono, SSB4 doesn't need many more 'sword fighters' and the Golden Sun series is full of them. Animal Crossing, Drill Doser, Stafy, and Tomato Adventures don't have ANY sword fighters, making their possible reps. far more worthy than ANYTHING that the Golden Sun series could ever add to the Smash bros. universe... EVER!
5. BOWSER JR!!!

(Series: Mario)
(Premiere: Super Mario Sunshine, GCN, 2002)
(Nintendo)
Why he's overrated:
Oh, good old Bowser Jr! I've been looking forward to ranting about him. Sure, he's a lightweight villain with the ability to transform but... think about what he transforms into! He's half mini-Bowser, half Mario clone and, quite frankly, he's NOT the most worthy new representative for the Mario series. Sure, he's appeared in A LOT of Mario spin-offs but so has Toad and he's been part of Mario's universe for WAAAAAAAAAAAAY longer than 'BJ'!
Comments
Geno... I half agree. I do love him, and he would be great, but only if he's not 3rd Party. Square has MUCH cooler characters they could add, including, dare I say it, Cloud Strife.
Crono, yeah, overrated, much cooler Square characters, same as Geno.
Isaac... if he gets a third game between now and SSB4, yes, include him, definitely. If not, he'll end up as a forgotten relic of a bygone era, namely, the GBA.
Bowser Jr. does not have to be a Bowser clone. Maybe he'll use the paintbrush as a sword and be fast, with the occational spin move or fire blast. Admittantly, he's not my first choice for a Mario rep, but he's up there.
Also, Isaac is somewhat deserving of a slot but there are many in line before him, I think.
Fear my super long comment.
Chrono - who?
Issac- needs more games BJ(get over his acronym) - He's very much eligible for the amount of games he's been in and I can't imagine him being anything similar to Mario and/or Bowser. The way Paint Mario moves, is extremely different from Mario's and Bowser Jr. is notably lighter and couldn't pull off 3/4 of Bowser's moves. And what could the Toads do? I'd have some trouble imagining a move set for them.
