I just got EBA, and I have to say, it's one hell of a game. But for people not familiar with playing instruments, it can be a tad frusterating to lose on the first few rounds of the first level. (Yes, yes, that includes me.)
It's not that I'm stupid. I'm actually pretty smart. I just don't get some of the songs. Ones I've never heard before are hard for me, to say the least. I'm on mission 13 now, and I have never even heard the next two songs. That makes it soooooooooooo hard to keep with the beat.
So, what can I do?
1) Listen to the song. Repeatedly. All day if I have to. Once I know a song, it's that much easier to play.
2) Listen for "hidden beats." Like during the Christmas song, it was difficult for me to catch on until I started listening for the tinkling of the bells in the background.
3) If all else fails, just pay attention to the circles.
If I'm wrong, please let me know. I'm not very skilled at this game, but it's REALLY fun and I want to play it through.
As for the rating of the game, I'm going to give it a 9.5. It's almost the match of my top two games, LocoRoco and Yoshi's Island DS. Almost. Maybe if it weren't so frusterating at times, it would score higher, but I just can't play for more than two hours straight because I get so frusterated.

I haven't gotten this game yet, but a lot of people have commented on it so maybe I'll give it a try. Strangely enough I did really well in music and band all thru my school years but I'm lousy at rhythm. I guess I need someone waving a baton in front of me to figure out the beat

It ticks me off that the circles and stuff make a weird over power cymbal noise that covers up the song's beat....

im the same as kjata123s case, becuz i play guitar and play DDR and Guitar Hero, Donkey Konga so yea, im kinda a music person, but my real advice is practice, these things just come to you
trust me, just keep on playing, the best thing is option 2 IMO becuz most songs have a particular rythm that only changes for the chorus and some the end becomes different but all songs are stereo types if you're into music and music theory, i sorta am, so some parts are obvious to what you have to do, although i have to admit some parts are almost death, becuz the games seems to go all wierd, anyway, so i think practice makes perfect:ink: and does getting used to more songs(in other words, your option 2)

Not familiar with EBA but must be good if it's comparable to Yoshi's Island

Sure will, Lucas. Thanks for the comments and suggestions, everyone. I'm in the middle of Chillin' right now (that two-star difficulty). Such a fun game!

Elite Beat Agents is awesome! I love the level where tthe two girls get stuck in a deserted island and all the animals fall in love with them!
