Sony did it this time. All the things I said about PS3 I take back. It has totally proved itself. Yes 360 has the games but soon PS3 will and then some. It's a great durable machine.(Even though I'm on my second one) It's a great system and a decent Blu-ray player. The games is still lacking but PS3 is catching up to the 360. And it's just a matter of time before it beats the 360. MS should thought more clearly before they launched the 360. The PS3 is going to beat the Wii also.(that thing is junk) I hate that stupid console. The Wii..... AKA Gamecube 2. PS3 is were it's at!

The Wii is junk.

I wish you stated more why you feel this way. But I'm in agreement with you. I have both systems, but lately I've leaned more towards buying and playing games on the PS3. I love their micro-payment system (using real dollars instead of points). The fact that it has a dedicated hard-drive will allow for quicker loading and more information being kept. The Wii lacks a hard-drive and everyone is complaining about having to download and re-download games. If you have a small HDD with your 360, then it's pointless to download movies, shows or classic games since you can only fit a few. The Blu-Ray player is also a great addition and considering that it doubles back as a regular DVD player, you don't lose. Even Sony's first party titles are doing well. Uncharted sold well, R & C is a good game, even Heavenly Sword and Motorstorm showed what the system is capable now and in the future. You really can't go wrong.

YEAH I think the ps3 soon or later will be the winner of this new war
Posted Feb 8, 2008 9:14 am PT
The first problem that I intially had was the price, and how they marketed it. But once I got one and started playing games that took advantage of it's capabilities, I was sold.(Also the fact that my 360 failed when I really needed it most didn't help either.) The only reason why I still have a 360 is because of Gears of War, Bioshock and Mass effect. And future games like Ninja Gaiden 2 and and Gears of war 2. PS3 is were it's at!

Wow. I never thought I would see you turn to the Dark Side. I am still completely unimpressed. No game for BS3 has even sold 1-million copies as yet, so I am not the only one. (Correct me if I'm wrong.) -I am holding out for FF13, but right now, I just see nothing besides it worth buying for the system. Now, or in the horizon.

Well I know one thing. I elt the same way until I actualy gave it a chance. True I was ticked off about the price, and the fact that they have totally neglected BC. But they are what the said they were.

I never expected to see this. Well, I own a PS3 now as well and I can honestly say it sorely lacks compared to the 360. I am impressed by it, and it definately eats the Wii. But as far as games and online go, the 360 is still king.
Posted Feb 11, 2008 6:39 am PT
I agree with you EXxile. As far as games and online goes, but as far as overall hardware PS3 has the edge, and once it catches up to the 360 as far as games goes the 360 is going to be in trouble.

Indeed. Sony's black box of doom sure does have muscle no doubt. Now judging off of the actual hardware than yes, PS3 reigns supreme. The Blu-Ray player on it is great, it has an internet browser, and it has better processing power. The PS3 has alot of catching up to do as far as games go, and honestly I don't know if they would be able to catch up to the 360 with great exclusives and online anytime soon. But 2008 does shine some light on the PS3. But the light also shines brightly on the 360 as well. 2007 was no doubt handed over to the 360, but 2008 looks to be more of a tight race. I still think that the 360 will come out on top in the end, but the PS3 won't be too far behind. As an entire entertainment center, Sony gots it on lockdown. But if your strictly looking for games and online gaming then 360 holds that ground. And the Wii.....well, they hold the fort down at the kids area.

Whoa man! I never would have expected you to sing the PS3's praises. You, who at one time was one of Sony's most vocal critics. Congratulations. I am also getting closer to breaking down and getting a PS3 but I am stubbornly waiting for the dual shock controller to come packaged with it because there is no way in hell that I am buying a PS3 and then having to shell out another $50 or $60 dollars for the good controllers a few short months down the road. So the waiting game begins. Sadly, I've come to realize that my Wii is turning into a very casual, mini-game oriented system with the odd great game popping up once or twice a year or so. Thank God for the Virtual Console because that is the only thing that blows me away since I have never owned a Nintendo console before (Atari to Sega Master System to Genesis to PS1 to PS2 to Wii). Is the PS3 really a decent Blu Ray machine because I read some person saying that it gimps the audio and takes 30 seconds to play a movie. I couldn't comment about the audio part but the 30 second claim just sounded like bull crap to me.

I don't know about that dude. Those are pretty ballsy statements. I have to disagree in a couple places. Ok Sony, still has a chance to catch up to the 360, but i don't think it ever will. Right now the 360 has too much momentum in sales over Sony. Sony is selling more units atm, but overall they don't have a trend of selling more PS3 over 360. Sofware, is not where Sony is going to pick up. Sony would have to throw a lot of money at some publishers for some REALLY good exclusives. Things like Devil may Cry 4 could have been a Sony exclusive, but there are just way too many 360s out there for publishers to not put it on the 360, so Sony may never catch up in exclusives. Another point is comparing the PS3 and Wii. Yes i do feel the Wii is a GameCube v.2 (that has been my bis disappointment), but they remote is huge right now and people are still sucking up Wiis like the world is going to end tomorrow. Fact is the Wii has grabbed the general audience and not the typical gamers, that marketing plan has and will continue to work for the Wii. You may like the PS3 dude, but hate to tell you. MS is king this time around, and the Wii is just a league of its own.

Well said Klugenbeel

Those are great points that you made, but reality is that only in the US, the PS3 is not doing well. But in Europe it's doing too well. It's right behind the Wii. And the fact that the 360's constant hardware issues, is going to hurt the life of the 360 in the long run. But on the 360 front Gears of War 2 looks amazing!
Posted Feb 25, 2008 6:01 pm PT
It sure is an amazing console,it's my console of choice too

Sony's PS3 will still be around in 2010 The Wii and the Flopbox 360 is going to be 6 feet under. The only reason why I still even have a 360 is because of Ninja Gaiden 2 and Gears of War 2 otherwise I would vamoose this red light special console.

What exactly has the Wii done to do for you to hate it? It just a console, if you don't like it, don't buy it.

But that about "hate"... it's a little nerdy, you know.

-According to NPD, the Wii also outsells the PS3 in Europe (170 000 versus 90 000 last week, that's a big difference, not something that can be called "just behind"). And in Japan the difference is 5 to 1.

-There's absolutely no reason to believe that the "Wii and the Flopbox 360 is going to be 6 feet under."

Yes, right know the PS3 is outselling the 360 but for few. Almost 30 000 units per week. The 360 has an advantage of 6 millions versus the PS3. At that rate, Sony will need something like 200 weeks (50 months, almost 4 years) to catch (just to catch) the 360.

Yes, MGS 4 will help, but it can't do the whole job alone. And GoW 2 will be a big support for the 360.

Don't let your fanboysm blind you. Right now the Sony PS3 is the last console, and nothing seems to indicate that it will change in the 2010.

@IronBass I don't like the Wii and I won't buy the Wii. What has he Wii done to me or done period? NOTHING! That's the point, it keeps selling and it sucks. Like I said on one of the boards earlier this week. Name 5 great titles for the Wii thats not 1st party. you most likely can't.(as a matter of fact has any title on the Wii that doesn't say "Nintendo" on it gotten an 8 or better?) I work part time at this countrie's 4th most profitable Gamestop store in the world! And we have just as many "used" Wii titles as we do 360's.(which is quite bad.) People return these sucky Wii titles with in days. And I'm not the only person who feels this way. Just look at this very site. The 3rd party titles thats on the Wii rate between 2-3 point less than it's superior counter parts.(The PS3 and 360 versions) This is nothing more than a novelty.(a shame if you ask me. Gamecube vers B LOL!)

ps oh yeah and by the way, the PS3 already helped win the "HD format war"like it did for DVD, It's just a matter of time before the PS3 gets 2600 titles like the PS2 did. Expect the Wii 2 in 2012. PS3 will still be here.

thekey,
I'm glad you gave the PS3 a chance. I play both systems a lot, but the PS3 is my system of choice as well. Enjoy it and the great games soon to come. Oh don't forget MGS4 only a few weeks away!!
Posted May 14, 2008 2:11 pm PT
@ borgman Yep! MGS 4 3 weeks!

My ears are ringing wrong. I could've sworn we were on different parts of the bridge the last time we spoke.

thekey? I have to agree with you on the wii I haven't used it in months. I bought it in the hopes of using Wii Fit when it came out. Bought it used it for a while but now...well... can you guess what my printer is sitting on right now? The balance board

As for the 360 the turning point or fork in the road comes for every gamer who gets one of those... When you get the red lights (and you will get the red lights at some point in time on the earlier models atleast) will you a) breakdown and buy a PS3 to replace it? will you b) try to fix it yourself c) send it in for repairs or d) 2 of the above.

For me I chose d) I had bought one to replace the one that did not work at first but then that one broke down so then I tried to repair them with the towel trick? Worked for a while then they really needed to be repaired.

Unfortunately the first one was out of warranty even with the extended warranty. The second one wasn't so I sent it in...after having tried to repair the first by taking the first one apart.

In the mean time I had a deep yearning for some Dead or Alive and I wanted to play it so bad that I bought DOA 3 for the original xbox and practiced on that one till my 360 came back. Game is glitchy as heck but it tided me over.

They claimed they'd fix my 360 right? But it seems like I ended up with a new xbox 360 one that was manufactured this year! Oh and by the way I know its not my original one that I sent in because the graffitti I left on it is gone. I wrote where is my 360 on the box.

Oh and TheKey one more thing how the heck when you admittedly are on your 2nd PS3 can you stake a claim that one console is better than the other when it comes down to the 360 verses the PS3. I mean from a purely objective standpoint aren't they the same with regards to reliability?

Other wise how come you went through one console for the PS3 and one for the 360. Had you bought another 360 would it not be your 2nd one too? Fanboyism that's all it is you've succumbed to it.

I remember the day where you stated that it doesn't what console you're on as long as you are having fun playing the games that you like its winwin for you the consumer.

Are we reneging have we had a change of heart with that regard? Does anyone else remember this? Furthermore I'm curious as I don't think I've seen it mentioned here. What exactly happened to your first PS3?

The Wii is crap!(The Wii HD) is going to be junk as well.
