Salutations,
Tonight there was a new topic on the Wii boards that featured a great question:
What are your five most-played games?
Now, this question is so great that I found myself unable to limit the list to five and therefore had to resort to using the blog.
The thing is, my memory doesn't serve me well enough to know how many hours I've put into each and every game I've played throughout my life. No, unfortunately I can only remember that there are certain games that I played extensively.
And here are some of them... (in no particular order)
---
- The first time I played this game was at a Wal-Mart on one of those promotional set-ups. It absolutely blew me away. When I finally owned the game, I played it for countless hours. I found that collecting all 120 stars was a real treat.
- I was the master of this game. I knew every wave in that game and exactly how to maneuver my way through them with the utmost efficiency. I even wrote a very detailed FAQ for a site I used to write for called The 64 Source. Ah, what a gorgeous game.
The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind
- The release of this game sort of coincided with me moving out for the first time, so I had all the time in the world to play it. And that's what I did.

- One winter, myself and three friends played an entire 82 game season with four different teams, plus best-of-seven series' in the playoffs. That's a lot of damn games. Good times, though.
- It was with Halo that I enjoyed my first eight-player gaming. Yes, two TVs in two separate rooms, eight controllers and eight guys with nothing better to do than invest ungodly amounts of hours into a FPS. Awesome!
- A big surprise, I'm sure, but I'll be honest; I have played Mario Kart Wii for a ridiculous amount of hours since it's release in April. I love the Wii Wheel (I'm at an arcade!) and I love the twelve-player online racing even more. It's just a brilliant online game.
- I remember renting this game when it first came out and telling everybody at school the next day just how awesome it was. Of course, at that point I had not yet played with friends and I still didn't know how truly awesome the game was. It was the revolution of console multi-player gaming.
- Here's another game that was enjoyed by my friends and I. I'm glad I don't have an official number of all the hours put into having Pikachu, Yoshi, Kirby, and Captain Falcon beat the hell out of each other. It would likely be embarassing.
- I played a lot of this one with a friend I lived with at the time it came out. There was much fun to be had playing for championship belts over beers... perhaps a little too much fun.
- This was my first online gaming experience. And what an experience it was. I couldn't believe how much fun you could have meeting up with your friends and playing against a bunch of other people from around the world. It was great! Even greater, was hopping into a Jeep and plowing through raging battlezones.
- My beloved Sega Genesis came with Sonic 2 and Ecco the Dolphin, and while Ecco was great, Sonic 2 was bloody awesome. I played the hell out of that game and finished it multiple times. Occasionally, I would play the game just to enjoy the slot machines on the Casino Night level. Oh, and those special stages were pretty wicked for the day.

- For my age, I found this game to be so damn difficult that I had to play it over and over again just to get further in the game. Luckily, the game was incredibly fun and I had no problem playing it over and over again. What a gem.
The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
- I never owned a Super Nintendo, so I had to borrow one from a friend just to play this game. Needless to say, I had his SNES for quite some time. I loved the mysterious world and all the secrets to find; the colourful graphics and great music; oh, and the angry chickens.
---Haha! I wrote a ridiculous amount of stuff there. Oh, well.
Would any of the games on my list qualify for a spot on yours?
Later!
Comments
A Link to the Past was (is) godly, I played that game over, and over, and over. Personally, its my favorite Zelda.
The top game on my list would probably be Pokemon Pearl, though. My Pokedex is about 40 away from being complete.
@evrdayblues: Thanks for coming up with that topic, I really enjoyed it. It's those types of questions that make browsing the Wii forums worthwhile. I have not played The Chronicles of Riddick, but do remember hearing good things about it. I mean, a 9.3 rating on GameSpot is pretty damn good!
