Hello again,

Tonight there was a topic posted on the Wii boards that asked, basically, which title we were looking forward to most in early 2009. I enjoy these questions because they tend to get me looking at release dates, previews, and screenshots of upcoming games.

Of course, tonight was no different. I had to look at the release dates. Now I'm here to share with you a list of Wii games that are (tentatively) due out in Q1 2009.

Quick and meaningless banter follows...

---

little kings story

Little King's Story

- It looks to be a charming little game (with great graphics) that combines sim and strategy elements. Right on. Of course, we all know that the Wii is lacking in these areas, so there are understandably high hopes that Little King's Story will fill the void.

madworld

MadWorld

- Honestly, at this point, I am drawn to this game only because of it's wicked art. It's absolutely gorgeous to look at. Other than that, however, I still feel the need to avoid becoming too excited until I hear further gameplay reports.

 punch out

Punch-Out!!

- If this game is anywhere near as fun as the original Punch-Out!!, we are in for a treat. Obviously, not much is known about the game, but the title alone is enough to have me excited. Show me more!

 rune factory

Rune Factory: Frontier

- I love Harvest Moon, so any interest in Rune Factory should come as no surprise. Yes, we've done it all before; move to town, set up camp, live your life, etc., but the formula is proven and I'm willing to do it all over again. Let's hope it's done right.

---

And there you have it. That's what I'm looking forward to in the early part of 2009. Hopefully as time passes we will learn of some great WiiWare titles that are due out, because let's be honest... the more the merrier!

Cheers!

I'm definitely looking forward to MadWorld as well. Punch Out could also be a lot of fun, but i'm honestly kind of worried it won't live up to the memories of the original and as such will end up as a disappointment. Here's hoping i'm wrong and Punch Out is every bit as great as it has the potential to be.

Yeah some good looking games there, I'm mainly looking foward to Little King's Story and MadWorld. LKS because its gameplay is apparently similar to Pikmin which is fantastic, and MadWorld as you said looks stunning. I never played the original Punchout but plan to download it to have some idea of what the new one will be like.

Too many games. I want Punch Out, LKS and MadWorld. Little King's Story looks straight up amazing. I've been hyped for it ever since it was announced as Project O.

I agree with you about MadWorld, Sega is being a bit shady by not letting people play the game, only 'watching'.

oh btw, I'm going to be in debt this time next year.

In 2009, there are far too many games to look forward to, and I'm sure there are plenty that we don't even know about yet! I'm glad most people are looking forward to Little King's Story. I think it's going to be a great game. @ChiefMrBam: Punch-Out!! definitely have some big shoes to fill, so I can understand why you would worry that it wouldn't live up to the memories. I'm optimistic that Nintendo can pull through on this one.

@-Oath: I want Marumasa, don't get me wrong, but I thought it wasn't Q1 2009. Still, you're absolutely right, the game looks beautiful. I am watching for it!

@Erebyssial: Definitely check out the original Punch-Out!!

@Haziqonfire: Ha! I'm glad I'm not the only one who's slightly suspicious of Sega/MadWorld. It's true though, we need more gameplay!

Thank you for posting this. I was starting to become disenchanted with Nintendo because I forgot they had games coming out this spring.
MadWorld and Punch-Out! look sweet.

I'm the creator of that topic you were talking about Glad I got a spot in your blog and sig As far as LKS goes, I want to hear an IGN review on that one. And I'm a skeptical on going it and its first days of release because I don't want to dish out my money and find that there was a price drop on the game soon afterward. I'm not really looking into MadWorld. I expect it to drop dramatically not far from its release for a few reasons. One being, the black and white art concept doesn't appeal to the majority of Wii owners = Lower sales. The gore and violence will make many of the casuals back away from the game even more = Even worse sales. It might sell a little better because both the developer and the publisher have a good reputation for producing good-quality games.

@superluigi96: Yes, there is much good to look forward to in Q1 and Q2 in 2009. I think a lot of Wii owners are going to be surprised by the variety of games that will be available then.

@scar-hawk: I do agree with you that MadWorld will likely not see massive sales, but I don't believe it will necessarily be because of the black and white art. If anything, the game's art should help boost sales, simply because if it were another run-of-the-mill gorefest, a lot less people would be watching it. I am actually very interested to see how MadWorld fares at retail.
