......... and last week I took delivery of my new kit. I have an Onkyo TX-SR875 AV reciever/amp and a pair of monitor audio radius 270 speakers at the front. Boy does this thing show Bose up to be what it really is, that is overpriced OK stuff that offers a good all in one style sytem, but it's just not that good for sound. Sure movies sounded pretty good on it and games where good, but music was really poor. Now my ears are loving music again and movies just sound out of this worl. I havent even got my new sub, surrounds, or the proper good quality cables yet and the Bose is forgotten.

Anyone wanting a good serious HT kit should look at this man, even if (like me) your having to buy it a bit at a time.

I'm in a good mood this week

i love Onkyo's, good quality at a reasonable price. i've just been reading up about the SR605 (won CNETs editor's choice award) but i think i might go with the SR705 due to the digital audio out and better video upconversion. of course you got the mac daddy one and heavy too, freakin' 50 lbs. whoa!

i've got to get an hdtv first of course

HDTVs help gaming more than speakers in my opinion. Not that new speakers don't help. LOL!

The 875 weighs an absolute tonne, I couldnt believe it when I tried to slip it in under my HD set. It runs quite hot which isnt a problem but you maybe interesed to know, but the performance is sweet as, cant stop playin with the thing.

I use it to run my SD tv through and it does a fairly good job cleaning the image up and upscaling, it improves the picture the component output of the premium xbox 360 via HDMI with the image being slightly sharper and brighter. I havent finished choosing my surround speakers or sub yet so the 7.1 will have to wait for now but everyting is pretty much great.
Theres just some slight image combing when watching SD tv but a firmware update is due to fix that.

All in all its a top quality piece of kit, even the theater dimensional mode gives a surround effect that supprised me.
