-What a good band.  I miss them on my TV and the C.lassicc rock station.  If I have to listen to the same Beatles, Zeppelin, Pink Floyd or Hendrix songs one more time...

-BTW, that band in the photo is The Cult.

Books and Magazines

On Saturday, my sister and I did some errands and then we stopped off at out local gigantic Barne's & Nobles.    I tend to go there on a whim, because their sales on books can be really good.  We were there for a good 45 minutes.

After going around the magazine rack for a while, I picked up 3 magazines.

-I bought this one because it's a fun metal magazine.  Half the music in there I don't care for, but it's still interesting to read about all things metal.

-I got this one because I like Tool.  I wanted to learn more about the band.  And man are they weird.  I like that.

-I got this one because well let's face it, The Source sucks.  There is no more Vibe right now and Right On! is no longer my cup of tea.

I also got these two books

My sister asked me why I got it.  I told her, well I do have the Chris Benoit one.  I should have his best friend's books too.  Next up is to buy his (Eddie's) DVD.   I'll start this one after my book about the Gnostics later this week.

I have a similar book about Weird People in America.    This one looked interesting and funny.  So I'll start that one soon too.

Music

As you have read the title, it's part of the lyrics to my favorite Doors' song, When the Music's Over.  I'm a very big fan of the band.  I hated that they got new singers, even though I do love myself some Ian Astbury.  It's just never the same and never will be.

When the Music's Over

My Top Ten Songs Right Now

Alice In Chains- Died

The Doors- When the Music's Over

 Our Lady Peace-  Life

Onyx- Getto Mentalitee

Eurythmics - Sisters Are Doin' It for Themselves (feat. Aretha Franklin)

Ice Cube- No Vasoline

Tupac Shakur- Only Fear Of Death

Queen- The Prophet's Song

Da Youngsta's- Hip Hop Ride

Bob Dylan- Blowin' In the Wind

Cartoon of the Blog

This cartoon aired on ABC from 1997-2001.

It revolved around a young 7th grader named Pepper Ann Pearson and how she dealt with life.  She had two friends Milo the nice guy and Nicky the girl who was great at almost anything.  She had a single mom and her aunt was married to a cop.  Her cousin was obsessed with cheese.

This show was very similar to my life in middle school.  She daydreamed a lot and at times the show made you go WTF.  The one boy she loved, liked her, but he could only tell her through his music.  She never knew.

Cute show, but it's not on DVD.

Gaming Update
I have not played my video games in a long time.  Sad I know.  I really should too.

lol

With everything you've listed here, I'm not surprised your gaming endeavor are stagnant. Not the worst deal when you think about it... good books always cover well for a lack in gaming. Let me know how that Guerrero story treats ya.

Nice, I remember Pepper Ann. And tell us how Eddie's book is when you're done, okay? Viva la Raza!

Interesting music list...some I like and some I've never heard of. My sister loves Barnes & Noble, too. I'm backlogged on all the books I have which people loaned me.

Queen, Bob Dylan, and Pepper Ann all in one blog post? Awesome overload.

McMJ3, they are alright. On the revolver magazine site, they streamed some of their music for the new album.
Good to see some one who remembered Pepper Ann.

Yagr_Zero, they did have similar elements.

danharr, nice to see some memories are brought back. And who would have thought the Cult ever looked like that. I dug that one up on purpose.

Dreski83, I just finished my Gnostics book so Eddie's will be read starting tonight. And you're right about books, they can do so much more than TV can.

LadyInque, click the link. It might help you remember.

Crulex1369, that's really good to know. And I shall.

millerem99, one of my friends told me that I'm too eclectic and that I have some psychological issues due to how divers of a music lover I am. She could be right.

I was backlogged for a while myself. The interesting thing is, that it's so frustrating because sometimes they ask you, so how was the book when you see them all the time.

punkhead66, did you like it?

loggens, that dude is Jay-z. He has about a 8 page interview in the magazine. It's a good one though.

theredrobin, why thank you milady.

wow i remember pepperann i was like 5 years old when i saw it and i always though the red hair is a guy

The Cult is awesome. But I enjoy both Zeppelin and Pink Floyd more, no matter how many times I hear the songs. That's some nice stuff you bought. Great top 10 songs choise My favorite of those is probably the Prophet's Song and I think blowing in the wind is one of the few songs I've heard too many times to really love anymore

Interesting items you picked up.

I may go see the Black Dahlia Murder play next month but I'm not sure yet.
Posted Sep 16, 2009 2:49 pm PT
Yeah I listened to some of their stuff on youtube, can't say I'm a fan
Posted Sep 16, 2009 5:47 pm PT
Pepper Ann wasn't a favorite of mine, but it sure beats the crap out of half the cartoons out now. I always liked the theme song for it though. Revolver is a good magazine. i have't read it in a while though. BTW, a good website I like is called Metal Storm. You can find stuff on every genre of metal there.

I remember that cartoon, and I had almost completely forgotten about it. It would have been interesting to hear more 8+ minute songs from Queen.

rebelway, her hair was a bit weird.

12678, good to see a fellow lover of The Cult. I think after hearing Pink Floyd's "Money" or "Brick In the Wall" and Led Zepillin's "Communication Breakdown", "Whole Lotta Love", "Immigrant Song", it makes me want to yell at the radio stations.

the joy of the classic rock station I listen to, has yet to make me hate listening to that Bob Dylan song.

EA_GUY, enjoy your show if you go. Also be careful in the pits, they can be brutal!

McMJ3, no prob. At least you gave it a try.

DemonSlayerZea, oh I really agree with you. This show owns many of the shows on TV now. I really would like to see if a channel can be just for retro toons, because Boomerang doesn't do it for me.

I checked out the site, it's good. Thanks for that.

kingkilla3, good to see someone else that remembers it. And I think a band or rapper should try to do a great 8 minute song.

i haven't listened to any of the people of your top ten music list. i heard the guns n' roses cover of bob dyans knocking on heavens door. i really liked pepper ann and haven't thought of the show in years. i have this excel sheet i list all of my favorites shows and i need to add it.
