As was mentioned several blogs back, I picked up Mario Kart Wii at its midnight release on 27 APR 08... and since then, I have managed to play every single day without failure. What started out as harmless fun soon turned into a quest of epic proportions , that severely tested my patience and sanity... but I succeeded . This evening about an hour ago, I just earned my final 3 Star rating. In MKW you'll earn a trophy (1ST, 2ND or 3RD) after completing the 4 races that make up a cup if you do well enough. With your trophy, you'll also get a rating... the standard ones (A, B or C) are fairly easy to earn, but performance above and beyond will earn you anywhere from 1 to 3 stars by your name and be visible while online.

Final cup of 32 completed to earn the coveted 3 star rating.

For those of you that might be interested, here's a few of the interesting statistics accumulated from my in-game license...

Distance Traveled: 14240
Total Race Count: 2105
Total Tricks: 13390
Favorite Character: Daisy
Favorite Vehicle: Dolphin Dasher
Favorite Course: N64 Sherbet Land
VS Rating (VR): 9314
1ST Place Appearances: 1396
% Race Time In 1ST Place: 62%
Item Hits Delivered: 4598
Item Hits Received: 7429

Now that my obsession has ended, I can start getting to bed at a decent hour again and my presence here at GS will be a little more frequent. I've missed a few shows, a lot of news and a few friends blogs... for which I humbly apologize. It's somewhat humorous if you think about it... avoiding a site dedicated to video games, because your playing a video game.

Ah, the sick obsession is over. Congrats on the rating. Now go to bed and get some sleep.

Wow congrats, practice makes perfect I guess. Sweet dreams.

Wow you left me in the dust. Nice work! I'm still playing too many things at once to make any progress on anything. I'll have to go play MK now, you inspired me.

On top of it I got involved in the Goozex site and they're having tourneys every day this month. Since I have most of the games all I've been doing is preparing/competing... and repeat.

That's great. I played MKW for a bit. It's nothing special but hey it's Mario Kart!
Posted Jun 8, 2008 1:12 am PT
Great job! I have mainly 1 and 2 stars with a couple of As and Bs here and there. I think I can at least get 2* overall like I did on MKDS.

More than 2000 matches!!! WOW!!! Good that you finished MK WII (and with a superb ending, congrats!), now you can come back more frequently to GS.

There was a MK Wii survey on the Nintendo UK site yesterday, I filled it in and received 50 stars. I was very harsh in my criticisms because I want a better game next time around.

I have had games like that as well... where you get so wrapped up in them you forget about life and all! I have Mariokart for the Nintendo DS and it is a blast! It is equally addictive and frustrating as well. I am glad you did well, had fun, and now are back to see us again!

glad ya liked the game......we (wii ) want it here
Posted Jun 8, 2008 9:36 am PT
I think it would be funny if you found out of a supersecret hard fourth star and had to get back to races and were never heard from again. actually that wouldn't be funny at all( starts crying uncontrolabily) DON"T GO, we'd miss you!
sorry I've been a little emotional lately.

@ SweetMissJaye - Thanks ! I haven't kicked my addiction yet, but I am trying to use in moderation as I attempt to complete one more in-game goal. FYI... I slept 8 hours, then took a 2 hour nap later that afternoon .

@ s-baller - Thank you ! It's gotten so bad, that I dream of the game nightly. It gets worse . I took my daughter to see Speed Racer over the weekend, and during the final big race what pops into my head? How much the track reminds me of Rainbow Road .

@ phoenyx - I'm glad I've inspired you, I only hope I haven't scared you away from a future match up. Now that I have a little more free time, I'm going to visit Goozex to see what kind of deals I can find. Good luck with your tournaments.

@ LD - I've played every Mario Kart since the original SNES version all those years ago... they've all had their flaws , but the fun factor has always out weighed them.
Posted Jun 9, 2008 9:18 pm PT
@ PAJ - Thanks Mate ! I keep looking for you (and phoenyx) on-line, but I've yet to see you. Hopefully our paths will cross at least once before SSBB is released, and MKW is tossed aside.

@ tinoshke - If I spend more time here Christine, will you promise to not wait 2 months between blog posts? JK . I was surprised that the number of races was that low... it makes me wonder if the Time Trials, World Wide Tournaments and on-line racing is factored into the total.

@ linkyshinks - The only real complaint I had, and would like to see changed is vehicle related. As much as I like them, and as much fun as I've had using them... I think the bikes should be removed from the next game. After all, the game is called Mario KART.

@ Sandpiper - The last game that really grabbed me, would either be The Godfather: Blackhand Edition on the Wii, or Pokemon Diamond/Pearl both on the DS. The former compelled me to write my first in-depth FAQ... I actually ended up writing three separate ones . The latter forced me to play through both copies start to finish, and raise over 2 dozen different Pokemon to level 100.

Ah, it sounds like you're resting and recuperating. Very good!
Posted Jun 9, 2008 9:57 pm PT
@ Raven - Liked ? No... LOVED ! Wii (me and my family) have had a great time playing together, so would you and yours.

@ porthand_jim - Be careful what you wish for, since I'd hate to be pulled into an alternate dimension... I'd don't want to go, and you can't make me . Now stop crying like a little schoolgirl and man up.

@ Jaye - No... now I'm going to go rest mom .

I'll do my best Joe , but I don't dare to promise something

Between the gardening and your cute little new friend, I'm sure your very busy. But I have no doubt you'll squeeze us in whenever possible Christine

Congrats! I am not sure if I could do anything like that on a racing game. (Myself, I am not that into racing games, although Mario cart has always been fun.) Looks like I may not be joining the Wii generation until next tax return. Too many bills.... Oh well. Congrats on your 3 start acomplishment!
Posted Jun 11, 2008 6:43 am PT
Thank you ! I can completely understand about the bills, the cost of everything is shooting up... except my paycheck .

Look at it this way... by the time your ready to purchase a Wii, Nintendo will probably have made a price cut and offered a few different color options not available at launch.

This is totally random but..... were you ever a fan of Baywatch? LOL I'm watching E right now and they're talking about the show. I need to take my ass to sleep.
Posted Jun 12, 2008 11:17 pm PT
Yes, that is random... and no, I wasn't a fan of Baywatch. Since so many of my friends were fans, I tried watching it and I tried to like it... but I couldn't get into it. But oddly enough... I do like watching Baywatch shows about "the making of" or "behind the scenes" type of crap you find on E! and VH1.
Posted Jun 13, 2008 10:35 pm PT
The acting on Baywatch was pretty bad most of the time. I'm surprised the show was so popular.
Posted Jun 19, 2008 9:41 pm PT
On Friday, I saw The Happening. It was freaky. For a few days, I felt strange when I walked outside. I won't tell you why; I don't want to spoil the movie in any way.

On Monday, I saw The Incredible Hulk. It was so f*cking awesome! It was much, much better than the one with Eric Bana. I'd never pictured Edward Norton as Bruce Banner but he did a decent job. The cool thing about all this is that I didn't have to pay to see either movie. I was treated both times.
Posted Jun 19, 2008 9:44 pm PT
Bad acting? I'm surprised to hear that, considering the high caliber actors hired to meet the rigorous demands of filming. Oh wait, we're talking about Baywatch. Being able to look good in a bathing suit and run in slow motion, were the only requirements for employment.
Posted Jun 25, 2008 8:14 am PT
"I was treated both times."

Inquiring minds want to know, was it ... family? Friends? The guy that works at the theater ? Or somebody new showing some interest?
Posted Jun 25, 2008 8:17 am PT
I'm hoping to make it to the movies this weekend. I'd like to see either Wanted or maybe Get Smart... I doubt I'd be able to do both. Oh,and I almost forgot... I want to see
Posted Jun 25, 2008 8:27 am PT
Baywatch was basically about appreciating "eye candy". LOL Some of the stories were okay, though, if I'm remembering correctly.
Posted Jun 27, 2008 8:03 pm PT
It was family and friends. My parents, well my father, paid for me to see The Happening. I saw it with my parents and one of my brothers. I saw The Incredible Hulk with my best friend, her boyfriend, and his brother. They bought my ticket before I'd even arrived. Sorry my explanation wasn't interesting.
Posted Jun 27, 2008 8:07 pm PT
As much as I hate Angelina, I think you should go see Wanted. Get Smart is getting really bad reviews. Really, really bad. What was the last movie you were going to mention? You never finished that sentence.
Posted Jun 27, 2008 8:09 pm PT
I like candy . But I'm not sure which I appreciate more... the kind for your tummy or for your eyes.

I just realised, I'd didn't finish the sentence in my last comment. Sadly , it was so long ago I don't have any idea what it was. Sorry.

No need to apologise Jaye. Your lucky to be surrounded by people who care about you.

I'm planning on seeing the Hulk movie when it's out on DVD... how was it?
Posted Aug 12, 2008 9:11 am PT
Over my looooooooooong vacation, I saw both those movies... plus Wall*e and Batman.

I haven't seen a lot of Angie's movies. But the ones where she has played a strong and intelligent woman, such as either of the Tomb Raider movies or Mr. & Mrs. Smith, I've enjoyed. With that said... I thought Wanted was awesome, and I'm looking forward to the DVD release.

IMO... Get Smart was good, but not great. I think people's expectation's were to high for this since it starred "Mr. 40 Year Old Virgin". I"ll most likely buy it because I've been a fan of Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson for years... if he wasn't in it, I probably wouldn't.

Wall*e was cute and fun... I think you'd like this one my Disney loving friend . This DVD will become part of my collection as well.
