...and more

Evan Treborn is a kid with a mental disorder: sometimes he gets black-outs and loses all memories of what just happened. The school psychologist suggests keeping a journal, sort of as a way to map out his thoughts and see if they might be able to find out what happens in the periods when Evan 'loses the time'. He keeps getting the black-outs though, and they never find out what happened in those moments because nobody wants to talk about it. Aparently some very bad things happened.

Later, as a college student, studying psychology, he learns that his father, who lives in a mental institution, had the same illness and found a way to re-learn his memories. Eventually Evan also knows how to re-live those moments during his black-outs, and finds out that he can change things in the past!

But every time he is changing things that happened in the past, everything changes in the future, and most of the changes aren't good. When talking to his father about his ability to change things, his dad tells him that he did the same, and that it's dangerous to play God. He also tells him that it is impossible to make everything perfect, but Evan keeps on trying.

I don't want to tell more about the story, you should really see the movie! It's very very good, and it's stunning how good Ashton Kutcher can act. You've got to see this one!

I give this movie 4 1/2 stars out of 5!

My homie hooks this up with 4 stars out of 5!

Reason: Ashton does a great job in this film. It shows a lot of his different looks; scruffy Ashton, preppy Ashton, somewhere in between Ashton. The story, however, is along the lines of almost every space-time continuum movie that you ever see; meaning if you change something in the past, the future is almost always doomed. Still, it's very enjoyable to watch.

Short review, it comes with the "Hell's Pit" album, and it is a mini-movie made especially for this. In case ya don't know, the name of the movie is also track nine. The murder scenes were cheesy, yet very inventive and gory, to say the least. The comedy was still there, and Shaggy looked really cool in his costume. No spoilers here, just buy the album with the Red sticker on it.

I'm done....it just automatically gets the full 5 out of 5 Stars

For the first time ever my homies REVIEW

It's clearly inspired in Michael Jackson's "Thriller" videoclip formula. A little bit of music, a little bit of story. Actually, it's not a hilarious mini-movie, but the murder scenes are very funny, actually. Me? I'd rather go with the Bootlegged In Denver/Real Underground Baby Video DVD version of Hell's Pit. But, if you can, buy both! The best thing about Hell's Pit, anyway, is the album itself.

Starring:
Barry Watson as Tim
Emily Deschanel as Kate Houghton
Skye McCole Bartusiak as Franny Roberts
Tory Mussett as Jessica
Lucy Lawless as Tim's Mother
... plus the boogeyman: everytime, everywhere

Tim is a young man and has apparently a normal life. He has a problem, though... Ever since his childhood, he's dead scared of dark spots, closets and such, because when he was a kid he was terrified by the Boogeyman who killed his father - everyone else told him his father just left, but he knows it's not true. In his house today, there are no dark spots, every area is well lit and it's all under control, but every single fear Tim has is now back when he sleeps in his girlfriend's house. Now it's time for Tim to face his fears, fight this cruel enemy, the Boogeyman. But is it true, or is he just a lunatic?

The plot looks like things we've already watched, and that's exactly what it is: a PG-13 movie to scare teen and early-adult audiences, it shouldn't be more than that. It's not a very long movie (only 89 minutes), and I believe they could have worked more on the ending, which is very disappointing. Not that the movie builds a high expectation - it doesn't, but it's atleast decent. Like some say, atleast it's not open for a sequel (Uwe Boll, why don't you use this idea in your abysmal movies?).

One of the best things about this movie is the camera, there are some very creative moves. Some critics say it looks like a MTV video, but I disagree... What's wrong with a little camera craziness to make audiences jump? If it wasn't for these jumpy sequences, this movie would've been far worse. I consider myself someone who has watched a pretty good amount of horror flicks and, like some of you, I get tired of the same old camera tricks trying to fool the audience for a big fright - you WILL jump in this movie, believe me. These are pretty much what the movie has to offer. Acting is OK, Barry Watson and Emily Deschanel look and sound believable. CGs are just OK (not crappy like Exorcist: The Beggining, though), nothing jaw-dropping.

I give this jumpy, yet we've-all-seen-this-before movie two and a half stars out of five. If you want your girlfriend holding you really tight during the entire movie, then rent it. Otherwise, the only reason you should probably rent it is to jump a little and, well, watch one more movie. Good acting, average plot, average CGs.

tardyturtle must really love MovieTome and agree with every review we've ever written! What other reason could tardyturtle possibly have for not rating a single film?
