Alright well, this is the second part of my video game comparisons.
Once again, it is between 2 games of one franchise, which happens to be ony of my favorites. Resident Evil, and Resident Evil 4.
Resident Evil, made for the PlayStation in 1996, was 1 of the 1st true survival horror games. It practically created the genre. Sure, with it's live action cutscenes and silly dialogue, it might be considered cheesy today, but that adds to it, in some way.
Resident Evil 4, released about 9 years later for the Nintendo GameCube in 2005, redefined the series. This game took the series and made it more action oriented than horror. It is considered by many to be one of the best games of all time.
Alright now. Taking these 2 games that, although are part of the same franchise, are different, I will choose which is superior.
SPOILERS FOR BOTH GAMES ARE BELOW!

Let's look at the gameplay to start. Being total opposites, they both do what they are meant to do practically. Resident Evil is slower, scarier, and there is more of a feeling of danger, being that you hardly find any health. Resident Evil 4 is faster, more intense, and flexible. Now since they are both equal at what they do, it comes down to which I prefer. And I would probably go with Resident Evil 4's gameplay. It also has more variety in the weapon department.
Next we will do the areas. They both have variety; Resident Evil has dark houses, creepy fields, underground tunnels, and mechanical labs, while Resident Evil 4 has a creepy village, castles, and a base located on an island. Resident Evil gets the vote here. It;s atmosphere is wonderful. The mansion, although rather dark, mostly takes advantage of more bizzare things things. You have the main hall which is practically all white and empty, giving it a feeling that something is wrong. There is also acompletely green hall, which looks practically alien. Also, the courtyard is also great; it looks totally calm, with the sound of cicadas, crickets, and a faraway wolf sound. The places in Resident Evil 4 are cool, but many of them are just generic Resident Evil places, particularly the base at the end.
Then there are the characters. They each have a good cast, lead by Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine for the 1st game, and Leon Kennedy in Resident Evil 4. I like Chris better than Leon, however I like Leon better than Jill, so they are kind of even. Now it comes down to the side characters, and I would probably go with a tie. I really like Barry Burton and Rebecca Chambers, but I also really like Ada Wong and Jack Krauser. Also, the chief of the village and Ramon Salazar are good too. Albert Wesker appears in both of them, doing what he usually does.
Next we will do the story. Neither of them had very special stories. Resident Evil just deals with the characters trying to survive, and Resident Evil 4 is a side plot. However I like the original's more. I just like ot better. Also, it's more important to the overall plot of the series. Resident Evil 4 doesn't have a whole lot to do with the story. It mostly introduces Las Plagas.
Now we'll finish. There are things that I wanted to compare, like music and puzzles, but couldn't because Resident Evil 4 doesn't use those as much.
So which game do I like better? Well, Resident Evil has the majority of the votes... however, even though it's a very close comparison, I actually think Resident Evil 4 is a little better. The advantages that it does have really give it a huge plus. I found myself replaying it many times because the gameplay is amazing. Resident Evil will always be one of my favorites though.
So that's it. My pick is Resident Evil 4. Tune in next time!

Richard: Oh Jill, this house is... dangerous. There are terrible demons... ouch!
Gotta love that line.
As for Ada, I understand you like when characters are left dead, but character death is only good when used right. Ada has to survive. Did you see Yu Yu Hakusho? Yusuke dies in the first episode and comes back to life (that's not a spoiler, in case you are curious
