Firstly I'd like to thank everyone for the lovely birthday wishes!

I got back from my trip on Sunday afternoon.
It was amazing!

The convention was fantastic. It was my fourth one. I love the Junior Clas.sical League and Latin so much. The people you meet there are the best. It's so cool to be around 1,000 other like-minded Latin nerds.
The only thing is that I always return home feeling really inadequate. You may think that you're smart or something, but once you go to something like that, you always end up feeling really mediocre. There are so many brilliant people out there. I wish I had more discipline.

On Saturday we went to San Francisco.
We went to the Fisherman's Wharf as a group, and then I went off with a couple of my best friends. We took subways and buses and walked all around. Some of the highlights of our wanderings included Chinatown, Castro, and Haight-Ashbury (my FAVORITE part!!!!!).
I had so much fun. I must return to San Francisco someday.

I got sick a day or two before I got back, and it's been getting worse ever since.
I thought that it was just brought by sleep deprivation, as I was awake for two days straight before convention, only got 2-5 hours of sleep during convention, and was awake for two days straight again after convention, but today I got an email from a committee member of the organization saying that someone contracted the H1N1 virus at convention, and I have all of the flu-like symptoms.
I might go get tested tomorrow, but I don't know.
I hate going to the doctor. I'm not scared, I just really hate it. It is always so awkward for me. I don't like people examining my body, as I'm very self-conscious. Also, I have a ton of self-inflicted scars that I don't want to have to explain or deal with. It's just really uncomfortable for me.
It's wise to get tested, though, so I'll most likely just suck it up and go tomorrow.

In a way, it feels good to be home, but I wish I were back at convention.
I hate that school is just around the corner.
My clas.ses start on August 25th. I'll be a freshman in college. I'm really nervous.

Well, that's all for now.

Glad you had a good time. I love San Francisco.

I hope it's nothing serious... it's better to be safe than sorry.

You're classes start a week earlier than mine do. I'm pretty nervous too, but it will be fine.

Welcome back and glad you had fun for the most part! Probably best to get the H1N1 test done sooner instead of later. Hope it turns out okay...and Im sure college will be a breeze once you get settled in.

Latin-minded nerds .

Yeah, I always feel somewhat inferior when I go to conventions like that, but don't worry, there are other people like us there as well. Not everyone is super smart .

Hopefully you don't have swine flu. That would be terrible!

Don't worry about starting college. Just remember that you're not the only one who's going to be new there.
