ok well first off i will probably get some negative feedback from this but to say this from the start this is just my opinion!!!!
I have played guitar hero from the start... i have loved every game up to this except rock the 80s, gh3 was good but some songs i disliked highly... and i havent played on tour but i heard terrible things about it.
I am not goign to lie i have never played rock band... i know sad right? well unless you count the best buy demo lol. anyway i have seen many videos read some reviews and im going to pick up rb2 first and then buy 1 so i can get the better rb2 instrements, yes i am stating on record the i will be buying rock band 2!!! here is my main reason:
I think the set list is freakin increadable, some of my favorites inclued: Journey: Anyway you want it, i am a huge journey fan and when i saw this i was like hell yes mofo lol and i also like, steve miller band: rock n' me, also a big smb 
fan love there mellow mood like dmb but i like smb's songs better not to say dmb sucks i just like smb better.
ok now to get to my rb2 v ghwt segment of this blog.
I am stating first of all that i think that ghwt has some really amazing intivative ideas such as the music creation system and the touch pad on the guitar, the drums are nice but a lie when they say the most realistic. there were drum games before rock band and they had very realistic drum sets. the character creation system is super hydepth, (may get extreamly boring lol) also they have the music creation sharing thing you can download up to 200 songs!! omg is that sweet huh??
yes all this seperatly is amazing but when you stack all this into one game.. im thinking a little too much for one disk.. i know i probably will get smashed for this but im stating that ghwt will be a flop.. i mean all this sounds great but come on if the touch pad doesnt work as amazing as they are saying then guess what everyont will be pissed off with it and stop playing... the music creation system is increadibly indepth but i really dont think this will be all what it is hyped up to be.. i mean when i say a video of this guy making a song it seemed somewhat boring to me... i thougth that we could just jamm out.. like get 4 people together and just make sweet, sweet love to our instraments... but maby they have diffrent settings im not entirely sure if they have the jamming till ur heart stops that would be sick yo lol. i just think that they should have integrated this stuff slowly like just add all four instrements then maby next game give us the touch frets things. then the music creation system on an new disk like an expantion or something idk just my idea.
ok now rock band it looks like there sticking to what works, but they are improving the things they had wrong like, only local world tour multiplayer, week a$$ bass pedals, noisey drum pads, flimsy strumbars, not sure if they are changing the whammy when i played it, it felt kinda loose. also they are improving on the mic, so ic can pick up the tapps and can detect voice pitches better. and the drum kit that you get wtih the game has ports for attachable crashes and tophats (not a drummer so not sure if that intirely correct sorry if that was horribly off) anyway simple improvements like that will make this already great game all the lot better. there are many other improvements and other stuff they will be adding to this game that will make it even better.
im not sure if i am correct about this but will someone clear it up for me, will or will the not be a jam session thing in rock band where your and your friends can just play with out notes or am i just getting that confused with the jukebox, witch is also a really nice feature. i think all music games should do this i mean come on that is amazing i mean there was something on there rock band web site that described the jukebox, "hey you pay for them you should be able to listen to them" that is great.

my final verdict is rockband wins in a first round knock out well tech. 2nd round ha ha (sarcastic laugh)
i really think that the ideas are amazing in ghwt but i dont think they are going to be able to follow through on it.. i wish they could but i dont think they will 
so maby gh5 will be able to pick up on the flaws that will most probably be in ghwt.
