Hey,

I was wondering if anyone knew of any condition where a person associates colour with an object. I know it sounds weird But... ok, here. I have this thing where when I think of an object, I think of a colour for that object. I don't mena physical objects, like a towel or grass, which alread yhave colour, but I mean things like days of the week, months, states, continents, school subjects, languages, things that do not normally have a colour. Example: Monday - Red, January - White, Washington - Gray, Europe - Brown, Math - Black, French - Red. Give me an object like that and I give you a colour that I think of when I see that object.
Now I just want to know if there is a medical name for that sort of thing, or if anyone can find out for me, because I can't find it.

It's weird eh? Does anyone else do that 'cause I don't know anyone.

Thanks for listening,
Love you all,
~Candy~

I don't know exactly what it is called but if you go to DiscoveryHealth.com. The network has medical shows on about people who see color or shapes when they think of numbers, or hear music, and stuff. So they might have the info for what it is called.
Hope that helps.

I don't have that "condition" but thanks to being dyslexic I see numbers and letters differently. And when I see an object I can "see" how the object would be in 3D space ( hard to explain ) Like when most people see a chair they just see the chair, but I can rotate around in my mind. Thus my getting into 3D animation stuff, it just comes naturally.

Hi Candy

I read you're blog, and I've never heard of this before so now I'm all curious. I'm not good at searching for things on the internet (mostly I think its just luck at finding those right combination of words ) but I tried. So the only thing I could find that sounded even a little like what you have is Synaesthesia. It's when a person gives individual letters and numbers (sometimes even words) their own colors and maybe they even SEE those colors, not just in their mind. It can be alot more involved than that though, like seeing the color red when you hear a door bell ring and giving smells colors too.

I know that's not really what you described, you associate colors to a whole word, not individual letters, but its the closest thing I could find. Try looking up "synaesthesia" though, it was an interesting read if nothing else

Sorry I couldn't be more help, hope you figure it out
