So my Playstation 3 broke unexpectedly the other day and I just ordered a box to send it off to repair. As if that wasn't bad enough, I was out of warranty because I did not have my proof of purchase so it cost me 150 bucks to get it replaced and on top of that, I am unable to hold onto my Hard Drive so all of my data will be erased. Man does that suck.

I guess on a positive note, that means I have an excuse to go back and replay all of my old games now.

damn dude that really sucks. at least it's not like the 360 where you have to worry about getting it back and it breaking really fast

Of course if it was a 360 it woulda had a five year warranty on it so you wouldn't had to pay to get it fixed. Still that sucks regardless of what system you have.

To reckweg: yeah I have all 3 of the new systems. I am on my second Xbox360 already and this will be my second PS3. It just sucks cause I never throw out recipts and the one time I do, my system breaks and because I don't have a recipt, its not under warranty anymore. Oh well. Live and learn

Although you don't have a receipt, their is a chance you can get your $150.00 back. This depends on the manufacture date on the back of your PS3.Now if you purchased your PS3 within the last year, within being the operative word here, their is a chance that your PS3 was built around the same time. For example,if you purchased your PS3 in November of 2007,it probably has a MFG date of Sept 2007,and if it that were the case,it would have to still be in warranty.I've heard rumors of people losing their receipts and using the MFG date on the back of their PS3 to substantiate the fact that it cant be out of warranty.

Unfortunatly, even if your MFG date is within the year, you will still have to prepare to do some serious battle with Sony. I've battled with both Sony and Microsoft and came out on top, nevertheless you need to be willing to spend some serious time on the phone. This all depends on how much $150.00 means to you.
