Wow...
Yep that one word about sums it up for me for this week. Hollywood is on the Grim Reeper's hit list and he is plucking them off one at a time. One blow after another to the heavy hitters of Hollywood has to be making fellow hollywoodites wonder who is next. We all know we live, we pay taxes and we die...but holy cow this is getting kinda out of control. Let's recap...
Ed McMahon - March 6, 1923 - June 23, 2009
Farrah Fawcett - February 2, 1947 - June 25, 2009
Michael Jackson - August 29, 1958 - June 25, 2009
Gale Storm - April 5, 1922 - June 27, 2009
Billy Mays - July 20, 1958 - June 28, 2009
The tragedy this week is in mass proportions, one shock after another. I guess I am the typical nosey person, waiting for cause of death in Michael Jackson and Billy Mays. Each of these people was known world wide for one thing or another. Their deaths are affecting millions across the globe. Be sure to check out Tv.com's Michael Jackson tribute. Say what you will about the man, but he was amazing at what he did.
Ya know, I could come up with something else to talk about, however it doesn't seem right. For the people who have passed their families are left with grief and sadness for their loved ones. Not only are we as a world mourning the loss of these people, they left behind children and families. My thoughts go to them at this time.
For the rest of us non-famous people that have lost loved ones, my thoughts are with you. While our pain and grief is not all over the news, it hurts us...the family, just the same. With that being said, this year has pretty much blown so far, hopefully it will make a change for the better soon.
Edit - While typing this up preliminary cause of death for Billy Mays is heart disease. Still waiting final cause of death pending toxicology.
Later Taters!!

Maritimer beat me to it.
Fred Travalena passed away Sunday afternoon from cancer. I've been a film/TV buff for most of my adult life. I have a standing alert from CNN that I should be e-mailed any entertainment related obituaries should someone pass away. I have NEVER had so many CNN Alerts hit my inbox in such a short amount of time. This week has been both stunning and tragic.

I heard about Fred Travalena this morning. I hadn't heard about Gale Storm! I used to watch her show when I was a kid.

Hey Mari, Thanks for updating me on that one. I hadn't heard that yet. We finally had the sun poke out, then we have 116 (f) heat indexes for a week. That was fun. NOT!!
Hoeech, I might have to look into that CNN alert. Could prove useful. Although, so many blows in a few days could be bad.
cdrak, long time no see. Names just keep popping up like pop corn, I am waiting for the next ball to drop.

It's sad to see people pass away before they reach 80, and really scary when they pass away at 50; it means I don't have much time left. Life is just too short.

Angus, agreed there friend. Life is way to short...

Gale Storm was the same age as my mother. Not making me feel real comfortable about now.

Yikes, definitely not a good week for the celebs.

Yeah this week hasn't been great, then the rumors about Jeff Goldblum didn't help, I'm actually gonna miss Billy Mays the most hes the only person I could stand selling stuff on tv.

Karl Malden passed away today at age 97....the Streets go quiet but he did have a good, long life!

Karl Malden was an awesome character actor.

cdrak, I understand about the people passing be close in age to parents. My father turned 50 in May and my mother turned 50 between the passing of Michael Jackson and Billy Mays who were both 50. It was a total reality check.
Newbie, indeed. Not good at all.
hsimpson44, yeah that was a nasty rumor. At least he is well and still with us. Billy will be missed indeed, tragic loss to the direct response industry.
mari, those that have a long life are lucky...yet their absence is still felt. As this week is still proving life is far to short.

And continuing the streak of celeb bad luck, British actress Mollie Sugden passed away yesterday. Sigh!

Ppunkinseed, I know it is awful. Lots of people leaving us.
Newbie, holy cow...it is spreading. I'm starting to get nervous.
