Considered by many to be the best sidescrolling brawler ever, Streets of Rage 2 is now downloadable on the Nintendo Wii. I played through it last night and found it every bit as enjoyable as it was over a decade ago!

Following up on my last blog, after playing the Halo 3 Multiplayer beta I have found it to be just a slightly upgraded version of Halo 2, in a nutshell I am disapointed especially after playing Gears of War and Rainbow Six Vegas as it simply pales in comparison and looks like a standard Xbox game.

I am still playing Crackdown and it's still shockinly fun, it reminds of a cross between the old Playstation one, Jumping Flash game crossed with a shallower version of Grand Theft Auto, in fact I heard the designer of the original Grand Theft was involved with the making of this game, the other thing worth noting is that not only is the game fun it's an Xbox Live Achievment GOLDMINE!, with little effort I've gained over 300 points in just a few nights of play with allot more to come!

Neko, the Xbox Live Points are insanely addictive once you start getting them.

Karsha, ya it's just an innocent wrestling move as seen in the game................................

The Wii seems to be getting more downloadable games, though I've never really been into Side-Scrolling fighters/brawlers ... meh ...

Die hard Streets of rage series fan Karsha: That happens all the time in 2 player

I don't really know what Streets of Rage is I really should get a Wii so I can find out what all these old-school games are like on the VC! ^_^

daqua, they arent the type of game you want to play every day but they' fun every now and then.

Peaches, I remembered you mentioning it was one of your all time fav's.

msudude, I just wish Crackdown was a bit longer, it's over to quickly.

racesauce, it'll probably drop in price just after the Halo Beta is over as it's gotten pretty popular for that reason here lately.

Platyphyllum, I think you'll be pleasantly suprised witht amount of games that are downloadable on the Wii already, it's impresive to say the least!

Somebody is gettin addicted to those HO points !

I already am, so U arent alone

That achievement unlocked just gives U a lil thrill everytime don't it ?
Posted May 23, 2007 12:39 pm PT
It sure does, it's an addiction, I would probably get games on the 360 over PS3 and Wii if available on multiple platforms just for the added points

Nice! Streets of Rage is one of the best beat-um up games of all time. I'd love to see an updated remake of both the original and the sequel. By the way, that second SoR2 picture is hilarious.
Posted May 23, 2007 4:09 pm PT
ah yes the ol second picture! I put that picture up in good conscience as it's a very effective wrestling move, nothing less...nothing more....

I just downloaded SOR2 tonight and played through the first couple of levels. I had never played it before as I was a Nintendo guy and never owned a Sega system back in the day. SOR2 is pretty enjoyable, but reminds me way too much of Final Fight, and I don't just mean the gameplay. I don't know who ripped off who, but some of the enemies in SOR2 look like clones of baddies from FF....

On another note, Beyond Oasis is a great game, aside from some chintzy sound effects. The Wii's virtual console lineup is getting really, really good.
Posted May 23, 2007 9:06 pm PT
Yeah alongside the MK games lol
Posted May 24, 2007 2:26 am PT
dwmorrow, yes it certainly is very reminiscent of Final Fight although I really prefer the music in Streets of Rage 2, I also purchased Beyond Oasis and will play through it at the first opportunity!

Peaches, I'm a big fan of Mortal Kombat 3, it's available as a download on Xbox Live for the 360 and is a perfect port!

Shame I haven't got an Xbox 360. Oh well I'm having fun playing deception instead
Posted May 25, 2007 3:40 am PT
You should get a 360, it has a perfect online version of Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3!
Posted May 27, 2007 9:53 am PT
Nice I need to get crackdown a lot of people say good things about the game
Posted May 27, 2007 10:48 am PT
I actually just beat it, the only problem is the game is way to short. You might consider a rental.
Posted May 27, 2007 12:26 pm PT
I got another 1000 points to waste on me 360 and I think they'll go to MK Ultimate
Why aren't you on my 360 friends list you Striped Fool
Posted May 30, 2007 4:08 pm PT
I'll have to add you to the list!
Posted May 30, 2007 9:18 pm PT

Posted Jun 5, 2007 12:11 am PT
Hi ya jesus knight, i've just been very busy! Thanks for checkin in
Posted Jun 5, 2007 6:30 am PT
I'd rather play Crackdown.
Posted Jun 8, 2007 10:43 am PT
I really enjoyed Crackdown. Probably helps that I borrowed my brother's copy instead of buying it, but I found searching for Agility Orbs so compulsive that I had maxed out my Agility after two days. Not really much of a reason to go back to it single player-wise but I was definitely surprised by it.
Posted Jun 10, 2007 1:26 pm PT
I agree, it's probably better as a rental, as you will get through the game quick, I hope they make the sequel extra long like the grand theft auto games!
Posted Jun 10, 2007 1:42 pm PT
I haven't played Crackdown since the new content came out. I'm also probably not going to buy the harpoon gun or any of that. I guess I'll just wait 'till it's free and try it all out then.
