I happened to pop on to here today and noticed that it has been a loooong time since I blogged. I am sure that many of you have been breathlessly anticipating my next entry, and to you I say, "Wait no more!"
My last entry had to do with the dreadful display by my second favorite sports team, the New York Giants. We all know how that season ended up. So lets move on to my favorite sports team, the currently-in-first-place New York Yankees. Shhh shhh, I can hear the boos already. LOL I won't go into too much detail, but it is about time that this team got it going, and I don't care what anyone says I refuse to say it is all because of A-Rod. I still dislike him greatly (can't bring myself to say I hate a Yankee).
So that new season has been keeping me occupied, as well as reading some really good books (the King Raven trilogy was epic) recently, and catching up with the first season of True Blood just in time for the second season to start in about a week and a half.
Oh yeah, there are games too. ![]()
I decided to keep this one short but sweet. I miss you guys, what are you up to these days?
For all of you that know me, know that I am a huge Giants fan.
Nothing made me happier than seeing my team on the Monday Night Football schedule for last night against the Cleveland Browns. Yep, a national audience, where the G-Men could show what they were really made of. The big stage. Also a huge opportunity to put serious space between them and the Cowboys and Redskin, who had lost on Sunday.
Everyone had finally jumped on their bandwagon. All the talking heads a.k.a. the media were saying how they are the best team in the NFL. This will be a blowout game. The Giants are unstoppable, blah, blah, blah.
It was to be a blowout alright...
Instead we showed the nation what this team looked like in 2006. What the heck happened here? Eli 2006 showed up when we were all looking forward to seeing Eli 2008, or even Eli late 2007. 3 interceptions? He looked lost and confused, much like he did in '05 and '06.
This game was an atrocious, sloppy, horrid, deplorable mess of a football game. The Browns did all that they could to help the Giants by continuing to make stupid penalty after stupid penalty. But the Giants D would just turn around and give up the big pass in return.
Where was Ahmad Bradshaw? Dominik Hixson? Armani Toomer? Kevin Boss? All Eli saw was Steve Smith (who was one of the few stars for the Giants last night) and Burress. Welcome back Plaxico.
I have no problem with the fact that the Giants lost. Hey, we all knew this was not going to be a perfect season. And I always thought that the Browns were a good team that got off to a bad start. But this was an ugly loss. This was a game that looks like an NFL team took on a Pop Warner team.
I believe that this is a one time thing for my team. And in 6 days they can come back out and redeem themselves. But after losing my voice watching that horrendous display, I just had to vent a bit.
Off the bandwagon boys, we play better when we are underestimated, and made to be underdogs. I am sure by now the media has gone back to it's original stance that the Giants were a fluke, and all of that.
Thank you for listening...
