Hey guys whats up? This is SSJ with his decade-ly blog 
As a few may know, my dog died a couple of weeks ago at the ripe age of 15. At the time, I thought 'oh, that sucks', but after a couple of weeks the pain has grown as I realise that my life is empty now. I had my dog since I was 2 which is as far as I remember, so now that my dog has died everything seems down now. Anybody have any experiences like this they'd like to share? It would make me feel better

Sorry to hear that. When I was 11, my dog died before we moved from Flordia to PA. I miss that dog so much, and even with two new dogs that we've gotten over the years, I'll always wish he was still around.

Thanks alot for the comments guys, really helps. I don't think the death of a dog/cat is the same as a hamster, it's not a matter of 'we will just get another one'. People get emotionally attached to their dog and their death is like it is the death of a family member.

I know the feeling. Eventually the loss will go away, but it will take time for you to heal.
I've lost more pets than I care to count.
My oldest was 16 and he died 2 years ago. His sister died two years earlier at age 14. I still think of them to this day and the others too.

I have yet to lose my first pet who I got back in 2001, he is currently about to be 8 years old and I dread the day when he dies. A dog is more than just an animal, he/she is part of the family and like losing a family member, losing a dog is never good. Hope you feel better.
