Dungeons and Dragons Online announces it is going free to play, unfortunately for Turbine the move is two or three years too late. The game is all but an afterthought in the MMO market and while it might get a subscription spike for a month or so as curious oberservers wander in for a peek, the game will be going the way of the dodo before the year is out. It's initial launch was a disappointment with a crippling focus on group play, the D&D ruleset isn't kind to a mmo-type scenario, and frankly it just wasn't better than WoW.
