heres what i think:
Far Cry Instincts
Doom 1,2,3
Far Cry
Halo 1,2
Star Wars BF 1,2
Duke nukem 3d
Call of Duty 2, Big RED one, both
doesnt make much sense but a shooter fan will understand.

IMO halo 2 should replace Halo.

I agree, vashkey. fbrisevac, BF 1 & 2 are more third person shooters.

Goldeneye should be first.Everything else looks pretty up to par though.

looks good to me.

Good list... I would've put Doom first though.

I Quite like Halo as a good shoot-um-up, specialy on multiplayer.
Secondaly, it must be doom, very fast and jumpy, the kinda things i love to shoot.
Thats it really, dont play much shoot-um-up games, but everynow and then when i feel like a change, will play shoot-um-ups round my mates house, with:
Time Splitters,
Halo,
Quake 3
All fun.

I don't necessarily agree with most of your top 10.

I mean why are Socom: US Navy SEALs, Duke Nukem 3D, and Battlefield 1942 even on the list? They're just decent. Also, I wouldn't even consider Splinter Cell a shooter. Move up the Halos and the Call of Dutys.

I couldn't decide what should come first, doom or half-life. I put half-life because it perfected what doom started. And the reason y halo is so low, is its not that essential. It didn't change anything in the world of shooters.

The three biggest ommisions IMO are UT (pick which one, established vehicles and what truly was a multiplayer shooter) and Quake(the first shooter with jumping, started rocket jumping, first PC shooter to be ported to a console [I think--N64]) and System Shock 2 (Showed that atmosphere can be more enthralling than shooting.)
In their place I would cut out SOCOM, Duke, and Splinter Cell, which I don't consider a shooter.

Sup what about Battlefield 2 and Halo2. those are pretty dang good shooters?

there were not essential to the progress of shooters, 2fast.

Eh, I mean Counter-Strike is based on Half-Life, but CS has made more of an impact. I'd have put that on there.
I'd also say that Halo 2 probably should bump Halo, just on "everyone plays it on Xbox Live" merit.
I'm also not sure what System Shock 2 is.
Otherwise, pretty good list.

Pretty good list. The only one I don't completely agree on is Socom.
