Dunno if this a trippy thing to ask.. but just coming from a friend's house in the car and let a couple of cars through gaps (gaps like how when cars are sometimes parked on both sides of the road and only one car can get through at a time) first, but flashing my headlights (at night) to signify that I am waiting for them to come through first.
Follow me?
Now, what I noticed is that only the rare few will flash their lights as they come through, to - what I had alwyas assumed - meant 'thank you'. Thankyou for letting me through the gap between the cars first, i appreciate it.
Other, on the other hand, others just come driving through without any acknowledgement...
When that happens it makes you wonder if it was worth letting them through in the first place...
HOWEVER......
Then I thought about my own driving habits.... do I always flash back when someone flashes me through..? probably not
Why not?
Hmm, well when I think its my right to be let through. When its like one of those, "That guy better let me through, I'm in a far better position to get through that gap with this angle, than he does.. or "I got to the first cars, first. So its my right to go first."
That's armed with the bitter experience of other drivers choosing - from a variety of other options - to go forward and try and fit their overwide vehicle bare millimetres from scraping up one side of my car, as we both grind almost to a standstill, out necks straining to see blind spots on either of our cars, ready with the brake and possible reverse gear should there be too close a chance that the cars will make contact.
Then, eventually passed. A sigh of relief, and then irritation and you realise how long that little bit of road took to drive through and you are hardly started on your journey...
Anyway, what I mean to say is that the experience of not wanting to flash in thanks - the car that let you through - is due to other reasons, reasons buried in the past of bitter driving experiences. And when you drive through the gap, you realise that you have gotten around the potential problem of car scraping at 1/2 mile per hour - without any impact upon your journey time. And you feel vindicated. It can be done! You can get through a gap without having to close the road down while two cars scrape each other apart because one car didn't have the patience to wait for the other car to come through...
........So what I have learnt from all this... is that when I flash you through a gap in the cars to go through it first while I wait, I expect you to flash back in polite thanks at my maturity..
And when I come through the gap without acknowledging you in the slightest, then understand that it was my right to do so as there was no other choice but for me to come through at that time..
Thanks for reading..
To me, a blog is usually a way to express oneself; a way to get out, waht has always remained in, or... has come out, but no-one has listened to it.
Well, in this occasion, I've used a blog to do exactly the same thing; to accomplish what? Advertising for what is in my mind. To share an idea, that I've created, with the sole purpose of creating the next big internet 'thing'.
What is it? What the hell am I talking about? Well, have a look on
Well, this was a suprise; a Pc game that feels right for the pc; using a graphic engine that is tried and tested and still does an effective job considering its age. In any event, this game just feels right on so many levels. It doesn't take itself too seriously and there is fun to be had and great teamplay.
I've played the demo a few times and have to say that this is a really great game and this should be apparant to anyone who has played the demo. The full game is probably awesome.
