Are you happy? You finally got your first African American president. Will this fix the things wrong with our country? Probably not. In fact, I highly doubt it. A lot of people just sat by and voted without paying attention to the major details because this was a "historical" election. Who cares if it was historical?! I'm definitely not trying to come off as racist I'm just saying that voting for Obama only because he is African American is just as bad as voting for McCain because he's white. If I could have voted, I would have voted McCain. No, not because I'm racist but because I feel like he and Palin could accomplish something as our P and VP.

For instance, this past week my friends and I asked an African American guy at our school why he wanted Obama to win. He then had to ask his friends what Obama stood for. More than once. Personally, as an American, I would really enjoy it if we did not become socialist. I can almost guarantee you that half the the people for Obama don't even realize that what he stands for could totally rock our worlds as we know it. And 4 years from now they're going to complain about it.

I'm sorry for this angry rant. If you were for Obama truly and you knew what he stood for, I applaud you. Non sarcastically. Because you have enough intelligence to vote for your candidate and not the one that is the popular choice.

This was not to offend ANYONE. Only to inform my opinion of the 2008 election.

I can see your point. I got worked up about this a ways back during the democratic party nomination, because people were saying it'd be historic with a woman president or a black president, and I couldn't help but think that it had become a pity vote.

Hillary Clinton didn't want to be a president to be the first woman president. She wanted to be president, and the fact that she was a woman was just an added bonus. Much the same with barack, I'd imagine.

People should be elected on their political platform, not their race or age or gender or sexual preference or whatever.

Same goes for all those amendments/ballot propositions last night. People didn't do their research and because of that, millions of people just got their rights revoked.

I think Barack could do an ok job. I think both presidential nominees are pretty good people, and I hate both of their VPs. Unfortunately for mcCain, there was one or two platform points I didn't agree with him on, and Palin is a little bit scarier of an alternative to Biden, so I would have voted Obama/Biden if I was eligible.

It'll be an interesting 4 years, for sure. I'm wondering where it'll end up come next election.
