I've finally hit the 400 games mark. Yay me. A game a month. Not too shabby. Plus, I don't litter my collection with garbage. I like the good stuff. There are a few guilty ones in there but it's mostly because I'm obsessed in completing a series of games.

Sadly, I haven't beaten most of them. I keep having this notion that one day I'll just retire and finish them all. It's a bit tough when you have a family and it just looks like I'm playing less and less. However, I love collecting games. I don't know what it is about having a crapload of games on my shelf. There are quite a number of them that are sealed and never opened. One time, I sold one of those games and it hit about $150 bucks. Not bad. It's a huge difference from getting shafted by GameStuck when they pay you less than 1/3 the price for some of the more recent games.

Alot going on.

I did a lot of collecting as a kid. I kept every box, manual, everything... I ended up throwing out a lot of them, and selling them off. I have found I rebuy a lot of the games I like... as such I just started holding on to everything even if I don't think I will play it very much again.

The only thing I REALLY feel guilty for is selling my copy of the Wing Commander Kirathi saga for $200... I bought it for $30. It seemed like such a good idea at the time. I miss perusing the manuals and such.

Cool collection. Any favorites you find you play all the time?

Wow man. I have a hard enough time with a little over 200 games. I can't imagine having to pick one to play out of 400

I guess you could say I'm a quasi-collector because I'm often guilty of buying a game (brand new) and not opening it until months (maybe years) later and finally playing it. This practice confounds my friends and they don't understand how I have the "willpower" to resist opening a new game and playing immediately. Truth is I don't know either. Some times it's more about just having the game than it is playing them. It's kinda weird and totally contradictory to the whole point of buying a game in the first place. But that's just how I am Congrats on the milestone, however

I'm not much different from raahsnavj. I've often traded, sold or given away games (mostly to my Brothers). Now, I just keep'em. Especially games that I've replaced. I usually ditch the boxes and manuals, but keep the discs in a big ass CD album. My SNES cartridges clutter my entertainment stand.

@raahsnavj Kilrathi Saga? Noooooooooooooooo!
There are some that are classics that I still play even all the way down the NES. Games I've reviewed at a "9" or above are usually the favorites I revisit and there are more than a handful of them.

@Kravyn81 - I know what you mean. The feeling of collecting is similar to comics and baseball cards but video games are such a weird exception because there's a whole crowd of people that just want to play and trade it in. In the comic world, most people understand why collectors don't read their comics. On the game collecting side, there are some really hardcore guys out there that do nothing but collect only classic games that are sealed and sometimes VGA graded. It's nuts. Those games can sell up to the hundreds.
