I'll make this quick. I think the WGA strike will end sometime in the next 3
weeks or so. Before the Oscars anyway.
The reason for that, to me, is simple. The Directors Guild new deal with the
AMPTP. Basically, the DGA wanted the same things than WGA: Make more
money from dvd sales and get paid for downloads and streaming. They got it.
There is no chance in hell the writers get abetter deal than the directors.
It's no coincidence that AMPTP and WGA decided to return to the negotiations
table just after the DGA deal. Moreover, as I just readed here on tv.com, the writers
decided to withdraw their demands concearning realitie tv shows and animation.
For the first time since the beggining of the strike, I'm optimistc.
Oh, and happy 2008.
