Ok so im gunna start up a Gaming classics monthly(maybe) thing. This month we have one of my favorites from way back when
Robert E. Lee: Civil War Generals.

This was my first strategy game. It has a simple interface, the combat cutscenes are life action shots of reenactment battles. the campaign puts you in control of the confederate army starting at the first battle of bull run. You don't get to choose what units you get or when you get them, but you do get to outfit them in-between missions, you earn more money to spend the higher up the victory chart you are (eg: Minor Victory, Major Victory, ect) and your commanders and their units get experience and get better as you progress. But your commanders can be wounded and may die or be out of commission for a number of battles.
This game also features an Multiplayer component. It is limited to Direct IP connect and hot seat play. but the main focus is on the single player. The AI may not be the best of its day, and it is even worse when you consider how advanced AIs have become. but it will give you a tough fight occasionally and you need to watch out if you are trying to be aggressive. Defensive tactics tend to do better as the AI will smash into your line a few times before they attempt to flank. If the enemy is moral is shaky and you want to finish them off in ****you can order a charge. This can either end in victory, driving the enemy from their position and causing mass casualties, or, more often than naught get blunted against their line and not do much more than bloody your own troops.
This game is a blast to play for you lovers of strategy games, and history buffs. you get your hands on all of the major battles, the music is, while light on options. fitting for the time. The battles are bloody and hard fought. and this game is a must for all who enjoy this type of game.
I know this is kinda short but there really isnt much else to say about this game. It is fun, tactical, and semi historical. I cant really say if this game is for you. but i do know its for me and i recommend you to give it a Chance as it can be obtained for very low prices nowadays. Ill leave you with a picture of the battle-map. its pretty simple but who ever said simplicity is a bad thing?
