Games are awesome. End of. Here are my favourites.

10 ) Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Vegas

I do like my online shooters and this one was incredible. Most aspects were nailed down to a T like the TP cover system.

9 ) Resident Evil 4

For me, this was the best resident evil game ever made. It revolutionised itself and still kept in its survival horror roots, unlike its younger, sexier, cousin, RE5.

8 )Killzone 2

No matter what people say about this game, the fact remains that it is the most polished, balanced and downright gorgeous FPS ever made.

7 ) Streets of Rage 2

Its considered the best side scrolling beat 'em up for a reason. It provides endless enjoyment and I urge anyone who never played this on the Sega Mega Drive to pick it up on XBLA.

6 ) The Getaway

An open world, based on London, with superb graphics and story. I couldn't ask for more. This was a huge part of my childhood.

5 ) Mass Effect

Endless replayability. An engrossing story with the perfect amount of RPG elements and a sexytime scene.

4 ) Uncharted: Drake's Fortune

The best looking game ever made (stfu Crysis n00bz). Nathan drake FTW.

3 ) Kingdom Hearts II

Who would think such an odd fusion of Disney and Square Enix would have such great results. A truly magical game.

2 ) Final Fantasy VIII

The best RPG ever made coupled with one of the best stories ever made. I must have sunk more than 100 hours into the game on one playthrough without sidequests.

1 ) Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots

Only a man like Kojima could take such a convoluted plot and make it make sense. The fusion of gameplay and narrative is second to none. In my opinion, it was as close to perfecction a game could get and thats why it gains my number 1 spot.

Honourable Mentions

GTA:SA, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, Prince of Persia, Final Fantasy X, Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, God of War, SOCOM II: U.S. Navy SEALs, Black, Resident Evil 3: Nemesis, Bully, Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction, Hitman: Contracts, Chrono Trigger, GoldenEye 007, Pro Evolution Soccer 5, Age of Empires II,Halo 2, Pokémon Red, Battletoads, Half-Life 2, International Superstar Soccer Pro, Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver, Tomb Raider, Devil May Cry, Gran Turismo 4, State of Energency, XIII, Resistance 2, Mirror's Edge, Ico

They didn't really fit with the other so:

5) Pixeljunk Monsters

Amazing tower defence with great art design. For the price of 3.49, its UNBEATABLE.

4) Castle Crashers

Just down right fun even with the steep price of admission.

3) Braid

Makes you want to tear your hair out....in a good way. Innovation is just something I admire with inde developers.

2) Penny Arcade: On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness

Comedy genius. Witty down to the very last line.

1) Flower

Beauty and originality oozes from this title. Not enough praise can be put on That Game Company's shoulders.

This list was inspired by Mistah_Cheef who has done something similar. Check it out.

2009 is shaping up to be another amazing year in gaming after 2008 which was in my opinion one of, if not THE best ever.

Street Fighter IV

Street Fighter has been synonymous with quality since the first one was released with 2 being regarded as the pinnacle of the fighting genre. Street Fighter IV looks to have built on its solid foundations with stunning graphics and smooth online play. Hadouken!

Sega Mega Drive: Ultimate Collection

Need i say more? The nostalgia alone is worth the price of admission.

Eternal Sonata

After loving the demo on the 360, I never got round to buying it due to financial reasons. Now its releasing here in the UK, I'm going to pick it up on the PS3 due to the extra content. The game is B-E-A-UTIFUL.

Killzone 2

Killzone 2 is the best looking console game ever. Full stop. After playing both the multiplayer and single player aspects of it, i am willing to go out on a limb and say it is the finest FPS ever made. Okay its not that original, but its still bloody good.

Resident Evil 5

RE4 was truly a masterpiece. The same formula coop and i'm sold.

SOCOM: U.S. Navy Seals - Confrontation

3 months and a hell load of updates and its finally arriving. The best military shooter out there.

Fight Night Round 4

Round 3 was quality so I'm excited.

Heavy Rain

I really enjoyed Fahrenheit so i have every faith in the developer never mind it has photo realistic visuals.

God Of War III

In the end, there will only be chaos! Yeah baby

Infamous

Shaping up to be FAR better than prototype and oozing with production values infamous is shaping up quite nicely.

Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

Infinity ward are back and i know i wont be disappointed.

Alan Wake

OMG it looks amazing. Hopefully they can keep the graphical fidelity on the 360 because all I've seen is it running on a quad core PC.

Honorable mentions

There are so many more games that i want but im not sure will makes 2009. these include Mass effect 2 (ME 1 was my favourite game on the 360) and final fantasy 13.

Also, on LBP my friend made an amazing level called 'The ernie tales' by Mistah_Cheef AKA R0BAT0. You should definitely check it out.

Im hoping Microsoft have a few tricks up their sleeve this year because so far its looking pretty dire as far as the lineup is concerned. They haven't disappointed in 3 years though so i have faith. Also, im loving lost odyssey at the moment.

2008 is looking like a good year for gaming, maybe even beating 2007 in terms of quality. We have already had, Grand Theft Auto 4 and Metal gear Solid 4(my favourite game ever), and potentially we have many, many more.

Here are a select few picks of games which will be a day one purchase for me, regardless of review scores.

MOTORSTORM: Pacific Rift

One of the best launch games for the PS3, Motorstorm returns and i cant wait. The jungle looks awesome and 4 player split-screen has me sold. The crash damage is my favourite part.

LittleBigPlanet

A game that needs no introduction, this game will be revolutionary and WILL be critically acclaimed. I can imagine putting hundreds of hours into this game. GOTY 08? ENDLESS REPLAY VALUE FTW!

Bioshock(PS3)

Awesome on the 360, awesomer on the PS3. Any excuse to replay 2007's GOTY. Trophies help.

Resistance 2

Awesome story, 60 players online, co-op campaign. Need I say more.

Socom:Confrontation

The best tactical shooter out there. Any previous Socom player will know so.

Pro Evolution Soccer 2009

No matter how broken 2008 was, it was still better than fifa. If the uncontrollable lag is fixed, and tweaks are made, ill be happy. Pro Evo is just to good to put down. The legend mode sounds amazing(which was done first by winning eleven).

R&C: Quest for Booty

Ratchet+PS3=WIN

LEFT4DEAD

Source engine is dated but a co-co centric game seems awesome.

BRAID

After playing the demo i was hooked. Too bad its overpriced. XBL wont accept solo card so i have to buy 2100 points at once which i sdont want. Guess i have to wait to steal my mums visa.

Some people just don't have opinions. Like shabab12.
shabab12 must really love MovieTome and agree with every review we've ever written! What other reason could shabab12 possibly have for not rating a single film?
