2008 is looking like a good year for gaming, maybe even beating 2007 in terms of quality. We have already had, Grand Theft Auto 4 and Metal gear Solid 4(my favourite game ever), and potentially we have many, many more.

Here are a select few picks of games which will be a day one purchase for me, regardless of review scores.

MOTORSTORM: Pacific Rift

One of the best launch games for the PS3, Motorstorm returns and i cant wait. The jungle looks awesome and 4 player split-screen has me sold. The crash damage is my favourite part.

LittleBigPlanet

A game that needs no introduction, this game will be revolutionary and WILL be critically acclaimed. I can imagine putting hundreds of hours into this game. GOTY 08? ENDLESS REPLAY VALUE FTW!

Bioshock(PS3)

Awesome on the 360, awesomer on the PS3. Any excuse to replay 2007's GOTY. Trophies help.

Resistance 2

Awesome story, 60 players online, co-op campaign. Need I say more.

Socom:Confrontation

The best tactical shooter out there. Any previous Socom player will know so.

Pro Evolution Soccer 2009

No matter how broken 2008 was, it was still better than fifa. If the uncontrollable lag is fixed, and tweaks are made, ill be happy. Pro Evo is just to good to put down. The legend mode sounds amazing(which was done first by winning eleven).

BRAID

After playing the demo i was hooked. Too bad its overpriced. XBL wont accept solo card so i have to buy 2100 points at once which i sdont want. Guess i have to wait to steal my mums visa.

Ive now had time with my 360 and ive got a few things to say. Firstly, In my opinion, it the in inferior next gen console(as opposed to the ps3). There are so many misconceptions about the ps3 its not funny. Like the 'huge library' on the 360. Well it isnt actually better. Halo 3 and gears are all overrated. I mean hugely overrated. I haven't played a ranked match on halo or gears yet and its been like 3 weeks. Gears is very monotonous and linear in the sense that you only do one thing. Move, take cover shoot. Move to next enemies, take cover and shoot. Id take uncharted over it anyday.

I was really disappointed about the RPGS and 360 as well. people had threads about '360 the new RPG system'. Well it isnt. Being an avid RPS fan i can safely say the RPGS on 30 are either average or crap. Lost oddesy is an old skool RPG (which is my favourite genre) which hass unforgiving things for a next gen system. Relentless load times, crazy frame rate, incoherent story. Thats unacceptable in an RPG. It was acceptable 10 years ago during FF8(my fave game ever) but not in these days. Dont even get me started on blue dragon. The epitome of pure **** That game sucks, hard. The only game, yes ONLY game i would want on the ps3 is Mass effect, its really good (although glitchy, i had to restart 12 hours in because the auto save messed up and when i reloaded it would keep crashing).

My verdict: PS3 line up is far, far superior. The only exclusive game im anticipating on the 360 is fable 2 which i will wait for reviews as the 1st flopped hard.

Im tired so ill keep the rest short. Live really isnt that great. Ive got a 1 month free trial and am dreading whe that runs out, im really gonna hve to shell out £40 to do what i dont on my ps3? i could buy 2 new ps3 games for that. Live is better than PSN, but buy so little difference, it really has no bearing.

One again i know this sounds like a 360 rant (WHY IS IT SO LOUD< THE BLOODY FAN) because essentially it is. I heard so many 'ps3 disses' and 360 'pros' that i believed it was far superior. I was wrong, it isnt.I will probably break in 2 months and has a worse game line up. I would say i regret purchasing it because playing with friends is fun, but i am sitting on that fence, and its so sharp im going to have to come off it soon.

Firstly, let me start of saying, i belive the ps3 is the best system on the market and will show more evidently as time goes on. The reason i bought a 360 was purely because the majority of my friends own a 360. I just cant be bothered to play cod 4 alone anymore. It feels empty *sobs*. I actually dispise the system a lot. It dosent have any real appeal to me. After setting it up i wasnt wowed or any major thing like that, i was just happy i could play with my mates. The system sounds like a plane, its ugly, it has a horrible user interface and its games dont intrest me much. All i can see on the horizon is knuckle head games where there will 'be more blood! ARR!'

I bought live which was another £40 but i must mention i got my 360 of a good friend for £130 because his brother wanted to sell. Its the HDMI equipped version. I must say im underwhelmed by the 360 and it really isnt all its cracked up to be for me. But the deciding factor was friends and that what sold it, even though i have to sit through halo 3 which i think is an average game at best. Too many faults for me to mention.

I know it seems as if im just ripping on the 360 but its just my opinion. It just dosent do anythiong for me that my ps3 couldnt. Now checking out live, i can see that the PSN is actually just as good. Less lag, less internet restrictions, higher quality PSN games, and all for free. The gap between XBL and PSN is GREATLY exaggerated and im annoyed at the misconception. All i can see extra that is added is cross game chat which i do like. Im missing my PS3 already, and all its doe is moved froom to my brothers room.

EDIT: on a seperate note, ive come to the conclusion that i WILL buy every multiplat on PS3. Its just a must for me. I love playing with the ps3 controler and the friendly atmosphere unlike XBL where EVERY lobby i have entered so far, yes EVERYONE has got me into an arguement with a 12 year old american who caims he a gangsta or claims he is 50 cents cousin while singing soulja boy.
