So I'm almost done with school, and I'm currently in a Career Strategies course, which now is focusing on job interviews. There are a lot of things to consider and pay attention to; it's tough! One bad word, and the whole thing could be over, or so I'm told.

I was wondering if any of you have any tips for job interviews that you would like to share. I'm learning a lot of them in class, but nothing beats personal experience! If you don't mind giving me some tips, I would appreciate it.

I should be job-hunting by the end of September!

Send out thank you letters ASAP. I usually start writing them the moment I get home from the interview. That way, I haven't forgotten everyone's name and I can include little personal tidbits into each of the letters. You don't want them all to be the same, and you don't want them to sound like you copied and pasted them from a default format off the internet.

During the interview itself, don't try to turn it into a comedy routine. Chuckle if they say something funny and be light and scarce with your humor, if you choose to be humorous at all. Smile, but not overly so...apparently, smiling too much equates to nervousness. Try to avoid cliched responses. Be honest and use your own words. You don't want to sound rehearsed.

Interesting. Hmmm well really, for an interview, I would do my best to give a lot of varied examples when they ask you questions, and not relate to the same situation. I think it's important to ask questions about the company or where you're applying for and such, and it's really important to work with a certain position: like, it's good to show off your position in an environment such as a coffee shop where you interact with others, but it's more important to be more serious in an office or corporate position I think. Of course, I've always thought it'd be great to bring a resume too, and many employers surely love community service as well.
