Thanks for reporting me, whoever you are, for my blog about L4D2. No more blogs on here anymore from me. Censored. If you don't like reading my blog then don't bloody come here. Dumb people. Seriously.

***EDIT*** If you're really desperate to read about my thoughts, then you'll have to come on over to deviantArt. As if censoring everyone's favourite four-letter word with two asterisks wasn't enough. Why don't you take 20 levels off me too? Or ban my pink hide? Site must be run by the Australian Classification Board. Others do far worse and get away with it everywhere.

Some definitions I browsed on the Internet

Hero:

  • A mythological or legendary figure often of divine descent endowed with great strength or ability
  • Any person, esp. a man, admired for qualities or achievements and regarded as an ideal or model
  • A person noted for feats of courage or nobility of purpose, especially one who has risked or sacrificed

Now take a fresh look at the so-called "Greatest Hero" competition and see if it isn't all up "that" creek.

Round One: After some of us probably screwed up the choosing your own bracket thing (and browsing everyone else's, I see some of us have), we settled in to vote, after realising we can't change anything once it's locked in. And after realising that second number we typed in was NOT meant to be a percentage. Ah well.

After a while it dawns on us there is something fishy going on.

Has anyone seen the vote count for Bub & Bob vs Master Chief? Compare those numbers to every other vs battle, and I guarantee you will not believe it.

How many people get on this website just to vote for Bub & Bob, then forget every other character battle? Lots of people, or so it seems.

But look hard. Very hard.

Apparently, some characters are more "heroic" than I first believed - even those that have been in games I've played. Bub & Bob (last mention of these fellas) are SOOOOOO heroic. I mean, shooting bubbles and turning enemies into fruit? How many worlds did they save by doing this? Where's the personal sacrifice? Friends that have died, dictators overthrown, evil wizards brought to justice? All I see is random enemies plaguing the screen, some of which are hard to determine if they are indeed the enemy, or the two dinosaurs are.

More examples. Prince vs Mario, round two. Mario Mario (full name) may be the world's most recognisable and likable and popular video game character, but the most heroic? Gimme a break. Princess Peach has been abducted from her own castle how many times now? When is she going to do something about anti-Bowser defences? Or defences in general? Mario never seems to have any character flaws to overcome, or sustain anything debilitating. Yeah, if I had a hundred lives and the ability to jump three times my own height (I'm about 2 metres tall, btw) and a swag of fire flowers I'd probably be a hero too.

Cloud vs Little Mac. Seriously, wtf? I've been playing since the mid 80s, and I've never even heard of this guy. Somebody kill me if he wins. Before I do. If Little Mac is a hero then so are my pyjamas.

Dante vs Pac Man. Another sigh and groan. Same as with Mario. Popular = yes. Hero = no. Gobbling up dots and running from ghosts doesn't qualify for heroism in my book.

I suppose Pikachu is going to win against Kratos next. I mean, for F's sake people. It's not a popularity contest. It's GREATEST HERO. If it's all too confusing read up on what a freaking hero is before you vote. Or if you're a fanboy noob go scrub the snot off your nose and get out of my face.

And if Link doesn't make it to the final four I'll rage-quit. So there.

Cmon people!

Jade, Garret and Master Chief need your help!

Well, I say Master Chief, but that's just who I voted for - in my heart, I'm glad Bub and Bob are winning. Bubble Bobble was one of the first games I ever played, and I really should check to see if I've added that game to my owned list. Cuz I'm pretty proud I got to level 90 or so once. Maybe even level 99. It was a loooong time ago.

But... check out the voting numbers for the Bub&Bob vs Master Chief battle, and compare to Jade and Garret's battle. Seriously, everyone that hasn't voted needs to vote now, cuz all those votes that haven't been made can turn the tide for these great characters. These heroes.

Do it now I tell you. NOW!

sequekhan must really love MovieTome and agree with every review we've ever written! What other reason could sequekhan possibly have for not rating a single film?
