It seems now a days everygame is coming out with a Collector's Edition to its game enticing gamers everywhere to shell out an Extra 10 bucks for a game but is it worth it and should we demand more???
I will start with the "Godfather of FPS's" Doom a couple years back it was realesed on the Xbox system and featured a special edtion which included a tin case and a couple classic Doom games and retailed for $59.99. Meanwhile Pc got expansion packs to add to the game. Halo 2 which outsold most movies upon its realease included a metal tin the Making of the game, concept art and the Making of Halo 1?? Why do we care about Halo 1 this is Halo 2 right. This years Madden for the 360 included the making of the game an NFL tournament for NFL players you could watch and some exclusive interviews.
Fastforward and we are a month away from Gears Of War arguably the years most anticipated title and potential Game of the Year winner. And the reported Collector's Edition will feature An Art Book GOW race to E3 and of course not to be out done The making of Gears Of War. Is this worth our extra money or could we put this toward another game or Gas!
I say we should refused to buy these Collectors Editons untill they offer good add ons. Halo 2 later realeased a Map Pack game forsale that you could have more multi player levels. Why not take 3 levels put them in the Collectors Edtion With the Edtion of a short scene from Red Vs Blue who doesn't think Red Vs Blue is Funny??? That's worth the extra money not the making of the game I just want the game not to make it. Doom could have added some of the extras from the PC Expansions along with the other stuff to go with a particuarly boring game anyway. Gears of War while I will be getting it I won't get the Collectors Edtion cause they are charging $70 for a book and the Race to E3. Where my extra levels for Multiplayer an Extra Character two other weapons. I think they could put those in and still have plenty of content for XBL. You have heard my opinion what do you say?
Other notable was Elder Scrolls Oblivion who has nickle and dimed the Hell out of us for horse armor and such but couldn't make a worthy Collectors Edition? A coin HA!
