There are live snakes in my garden! Okay, okay, there was only one and it was a baby, but the fact that it looked very much like a black snake (which is a deadly one) and the fact that my dog Leah was the one that found it scares the bejeezus out of me.I think I preferred the dead one that we found in the backyard a few months back. Sure, Leah rolled in it, but at least it couldn't bite her!My skin has yet to stop crawling... I am gonna have nightmares tonight!

Can Leah and I come live with you then?

Yikes. I like little tiny snakes like the garter snakes, but not the really crazy ones. I think I'd run away screaming if I ran into them.

I used to live in the South. I've seen my share of Cottonmouths and Copperheads. * shudders *

Lokar - Pretty much all of the snakes in this area are deadly. I'm so glad Leah is an inside dog. We watch her very closely when she is outside, just in case there is something we need to get her away from.LMH68 - I'm sure we could work something out.
Aunty - Yikes! Surprisingly I'm not actually worried about me being bitten. Because, unlike my dog, I know to walk away when I see one. Not growl at it.

Glad Leah's ok...I hate snakes, too. We have water moccasins here. One time while on a fishing trip with my hubby I was sitting right next to one and didn't even realize it. It was just starting to warm up so I think he was hibernating but still scared the crap out of me. If I see a snake I'm running the other way.

I like snakes. Most snakes are afraid of other critters and just want to slither away and hide, so you'll most likely be safe, but I understand your dog may hunt it. Do they have trappers where you live? Wear ankle boots and keep your dog inside, meanwhile. Call the local critter people for help.

Who-be - Rawr!
Shana - There are snakes in every country loff.Cajun - Yikes! That was a close call. *hugs*Sparkle - Oh I will. I would be heartbroken if something happened to Leah because she disturbed a snake. Entity - Nope. Real one.
Sesho - We do have trappers here. We have their phone number taped to the fridge. If we see the snake again we will call them. But there may not be a need... once this heat wave is over we're hoping that the snakes will disappear. Leah is an inside dog anyway so she's not outside much. That is almost completely reassuring, except for the fact there has been a snake in the house before. Mary - We have to go outside sadly. That's where our clothesline is!!!

My neighbor encountered a python recently. It had recently swallowed a rat and had gotten stuck between the garden sliding doors.

Don't worry about it garden snakes are harmless

Glaceo - Has turned cold lately, so no more sightings. Yay!1treehillfan - No snake dreams. Spider dreams though. Blergh.Helen - I wish!Spyrick - Yikes!Noah - I actually enjoyed that movie. Cut out the opening scenes and the end ones and it's actually fun.
Squishy - New Indy movie is out now.... wonder if there are snakes.
Ramartin - Me neither. Hi!Danharr - Yeeeah... not here loff. The majority of the snakes are extremely venomous. I live right across from a lake and a bird sanctuary that is home to tiger snakes, brown snakes and black snakes. Lots of dogs and cats in the region are bitten and killed every year in this area. So it is something to worry about.
