hello again peoples.

today, i got a tonsillectomy.

i've been getting these white lumps of bacteria on my tonsils and they were getting annoying to take out, so my mom and i decided that i would get the operation.

so i got my tonsils taken out today.

i can't even begin to describe how painful my throat is! it hurts a LOT every time i swallow. and my uvula (the thing in your mouth that looks like a punching bag) is incredibly swollen! i even have to take medicine, which admittedly tastes pretty good. i have to take a pain killer and an antibiotic.

the only things i can eat today are jello and applesauce. the only things i can pretty much drink are water and apple juice.

and the operation...

the needle for the catheter was the biggest that i have ever seen. and not only that, but when they put the catheter in, it REALLY hurt!. it hurt more when they took the catheter out after the operation. they way home, i told my mom that i would never complain about vaccines again! just because that was the most painful needle of my life!

when they put in the anestesia, it burned a for a couple of seconds. and the anestesia makes you feel really giggly when the put in the IV fluids.

anyway, i feel like crap every time i swallow, but thankfully, i'm fine otherwise.

this is gonna be a LONG two weeks of recovery...

Perhaps you have been told this already, but getting that operation is generally a good idea. Even with as much pain as you are in now, in the long run, it was save you much, much more pain. I hope that you feel better soon.

Tonsillectomies have been routine procedures for decades. But you can't eat ice cream?

element: i can eat ice cream, but i was told to avoid dairy products for at least the first day since they cause phlegm in the back of the throat. and i can't eat any citrus fruits or citrus fruit juice since it would sting my throat because of the citric acid. so for now, i'm pretty limited with my food choices. the only things i had today to eat were apple sauce, jello, a little bit of italian ice, and chicken noodle soup. rhen: i'll be able to start eating solid food after a couple of days or a week at the most. i even went to sleep twice today at home, just for the rest and relaxation.

SsriTelQuessir: that's true. i've been lucky though because the last time i had a sore throat was probably last year or the year before that. my mom had a couple of really bad sore throats before she got the operation and that was a couple of years ago. and thank you.

I had to have mine done during the school year. Even swallowing food hurts, but it does go away. I hope that it won't hurt for the entire time.
