I'm wondering if anyone else is wondering what is with the so-called, "short season" and why even hit series persist in this category?
I get that it makes the "off-season" more competitive, and with fewer re-runs, and I get that likely a short season is cheaper to produce and it also leaves performers open to do more work (movies, etc) in any given year.
But I am admittedly selfish! I want a FULL 22 episodes or whatever, of HIT shows like True Blood and Murdoch Mysteries, Flashpoint and Merlin and Legend of the Seeker...etc. I don't want to wait what seems like forever for a new but abbreviated season...or is it just my imagination that it feels longer? And it seems to me that networks should have achieved a very comfortable cost-cutting with all the Reality TV they produce because goodness knows there are no high priced actors/writers/creators there! (I guess we all know where my "nay-nay" programming lies, huh??!!
)
Anyway, just satisfying my "glass is half empty" syndrome now that some of my favourites have come or are coming to a season close. And I have just pointed out to myself that new episodes of some full seaosn favourites are due to begin soon, and okay, that glass is getting fuller as we "speak"...
