I may be born and raised in America, but that doesn't mea it's my heritage. I'm Irish to the core, and I will take any and all opportunities to show off my gaelic roots. I thought you kids might enjoy a photo of the family crest. It's funny that ancestrally I come from sea-faring folk, we are in fact direct descendants of Tomhas Na Sealbuide, or Thomas of the Sea, and here I am, in the Coast Guard.

America is a great social experiment, but its my firm belief you should be with your own kind, hence why my wife and I have put a little thought towards perhaps living in Ireland for a bit, maybe a bit longer if it works out.

Here's something interesting. The Shelley family is an offshoot of the Cahill family. A good friend of mine at work is named Cahilly. After I showed him my family coat of arms, he was rather shocked that it was almost identical to his own. turns out we're distantly related. Pretty cool.
